Andragogy, Adult Teaching!? WHAT Is Different From Normal Student Teaching!?

students-workforceIt is a question which I get asked very often “Andragogy, Adult Teaching!? WHAT Is Different From Normal Student Teaching!?“. Well, first remember that adults and seniors are OUT of the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> since long or very long, THEY are NOT used anymore for learning! That is a very important fact to consider first before YOU start teaching adults and seniors. ALSO, adults and seniors are NOW (as out of school) mostly more focused on the benefits THEY could have in their private life and are willing to learn stuff which fits to their needs in private life!

Another very important point to consider is that a lot of adults, seniors have a FEAR against schools and school-teaching, they made bad experiences with teachers AND still thinking on the stress with tests! AND they are used to an OLD outdated EDUcation System which told them that learning is finished once reached the degree (the diploma in the pockets)! BTW: a RETHINKING of EDUcation for <===> Life-Long Learning is a MUST! As well as how the diplomas are getting handled and valued: e.g. A diploma today doesn’t show any professional development made!!! My proposition is to create the diplomas as: first diploma after school is “A, B,C etc…”, then the professional development (followed courses) should get added such as e.g. A1-2015-1: first professional development made in 2015, one course. A1-2015-5 first professional development made in 2015, five courses, and so on…

This would make the diplomas more valuable as the workforce would recognize them much more than normal ones where they don’t see straight on if a person has followed courses after school or not…

THE factor time is ALSO very important, as said already above, adults and seniors need MORE time to learn as NOT used anymore for learning! Prepare YOUR courses by considering longer sessions!

And as (already) MOST of YOU know me, a music video, related to the TOPIC 😉

.

.

Chose ALSO a room who doesn’t look sterile (white color) as it would remind them school again! And of course DON’T give the courses in a school! Sounds strange!? Think on the psychological background of fear 😉 Make the learners feel comfortable!

And last but not least, DON’T teach adults, seniors with a normal pedagogy, as THEY won’t accept it to get treated as 12 year old persons!!! THEY ARE OUT OF SCHOOL and they want to get treated as adult, <===> mature persons<===>!

SO… How To Teach Adults, Seniors!?

1ibdy1vf6wghd-n05dgl-aigainformation1First of all, I mentioned it already above, DON’T let them feel like being in school and that YOU are a teacher, educator! Tell them that YOU will be THEIR coach who is guiding them and NOT teaching them and that THEY have a certain autonomy in the “Learning Room” (NOT Classroom!) They are allowed to move around in the “Learning Room”, searching help among their peers by respecting the noise level, copying from each other <===> YES, copying is allowed, OH WHAT FUN <===> everything which was forbidden in the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> is allowed here, hey that makes engaging them and they have fun as well 🙂

As THEIR coach YOU take care of an individual learning, YOU assist the persons in their learning, DON’T FORGET about the learning rhythm, one size doesn’t fit all! Some persons need more time…

YOU may use a beamer (or a digital whiteboard, depending on YOUR budget…) to introduce first about WHAT the learners will attend to learn where YOU show ALSO the <===> Learning Path <===> which YOU have prepared for them, so they will know up from the beginning where the destination goes with ALL the differentstations“, they will feel comfortable as they can visualize it, they will know as well WHAT skills they will acquire, less unknown stuff to think about…

An example below:

programmerman-animatedFacts to consider and advice:

Adults and especially seniors are NOT anymore used to LEARNing! By knowing this YOU need to take care about it: YOU SHOULD explain that to YOUR LEARNers and tell THEM that they shouldn’t fear, that they should tell YOU when being in trouble, YOU should tell them that YOU take ALL the necessary time so that THEY will understand it, YOU should encourage them at any moment so that they will find the pleasure to LEARN 😉 YOU SHOULD use Empathy, observing them and find out WHO are those who are shy; the ones WHO won’t tell you when there is a problem. YOU SHOULD interact with them, looking over their shoulders and finding out WHERE the problem is.

That is the hardest part BUT the MOST IMPORTANT one as when they understood that they could find confidence in YOU, then they will advance in their LEARNing, THEY NEED confidence in YOU and in THEMSELVES!

Thus meaning: make the LEARNing individual! Take care of each person till they have understood it. It is like <===> differentiated instruction <===> EDUcation, BUT more coaching than teaching. In one phrase, differentiated instruction is primarily suiting instructional means to meet individual learning needs.

Considering the “Learning Room“:

As mentioned already, make sure that the room isn’t sterile, NOT white! Consider the psychology of colors as it works, my 9 years experience with adults and seniors (NOT teaching) coaching. I used a pastel yellow color in the “Learning Room“, why!?

Yellow adds optimism to your home, prompting feelings of happiness in all who enter. Yellow activates memory, stimulates the nervous system, promotes communication and sparks creativity. And THAT is WHAT WE want in learning, isn’t it 😉

Learn more:

Make ALSO sure that there is an extra room available, where the adults, seniors can jump in to drink a beverage and eventually have some chatting with other participants, make them feel relax

SO… WHAT To Teach THEM And How!?

Flipchart-man-318584_1280-Public Domain-Andragogy

Click the above image, please, to enlarge it.

As mentioned already, adults and seniors learn differently and slower (consider the time fact); they want stuff which they can use in their private life! SO… WHAT could be those interests!? Did I say interests, YES, it is exactly this WHERE YOU need to focus when giving courses to adults and seniors! Before starting a course I do every time an introduction session where myself and others present themselves, after the introduction I ask everybody to come in front to me and writing with capital letters on a Flipchart their interests, they could use ALSO 4 different colors (red, green, blue, black).

WHY this!? First of all, there is a bit action as they have ALL to move from their places which is different from <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> and the color they chose is ALSO a sign of their character and mood… By the way: I ask them later also WHY they were choosing that color, just to open a discussion and to make them curios about next steps; they will be aware ALSO that I observe what is going around me and that I give THEM attention

WE will have a look all together NOW on the Flipchart and to find out the common interests, thus meaning: there will be a lot of people probably (mostly) who have THE same interests (hobbies) and NOW everybody knows WHO has the same hobby. WE created already an interest community without knowing it as these people will later talk together and probably will make an exchange of experiences 😉 It is up from there WE will build up OUR course(s)!

YOU certainly will encounter these hobbies: cooking, traveling, festivals, photos, gardening, cinema, reading, swimming, different sports, wandering, cards playing, taking videos, music, motorcycles, cars and more… That are the most common ones by my  experience over 9 years.

Some examples of blogs and curation about gardening (flowers), cooking, festivals:

.

NOW WE know much more about OUR course participants and WE have a starting base: as anybody mostly is proud about WHAT they are doing and easily willing to talk about it (mostly…) WE will show THEM on How-To they can do it through using ICT by explaining THEM that more people would see THEIR exploits and knowledge by using curation, blogging and Social Media. WE will explain them ALSO how it will work by examples, so that THEY can see it visually. And WHY NOT, for the creative ones, how to use “ThingLink“. By experience, women are MORE creative than men, just saying…

SO… How Can I Say That This (The PracTICE) Is Working!?

programmerman-animatedWell, I was a pioneer in my country Luxembourg (Europe) already in 2002 where I gave pedagogical courses about ICT to a wide range of the population as up from 12 years old (even younger when together with a parent) to 79 years old with different nationalities. ALSO there were two days in the week reserved (booked by planing inside the school) for the primary school where they could use OUR “ICT LEARNing room” by my coaching to learn the (at that time) NEW technologies. Schools didn’t have YET computers in the classes at that time and I was working very close together with the teachers and helped also to convince the responsible people from the commune about the necessity of computers in the classrooms, which worked 😉

SO… WHAT was that “ICT LEARNing Room“, called “Internetstuff“!? And WHY was my “Internetstuff” DIFFERENT from ALL the others in Luxembourg!?

A bit History and Story Telling: What is a “Internetstuff”? It was a project by the “European Commission” to bring the “ICT” to ALL the inhabitants in any commune in the European countries. They called it at that time “eEurope” and in Luxembourg it was a special task force, called “eLuxembourg” that was charged about it. SO, they decided to create special places where the population could learn through courses about “ICT”, which they called “Internetstuffen”.

Learn more (in French):

The Government in Luxembourg was looking at the time to find competent people to give those courses about ICT and they were advertising in the newspapers, where I made my application. I was selected and had to follow a 4 months long education through special tailored courses about the How-To to give pedagogical courses with ICT, a bit hard at that time as I was 45 years old already, BUT I did it and I found my vocation!

I offered my services and skills to different communes and it was in ETTELBRUCK (North of the country and 30 km away from where I am living) that I found a new job and a new adventure as a pioneer. Apart from giving courses about and with ICT, NO ONE of the responsible persons had a clue about the How-To, so they told me “Do what You want, You should know what…“, OK, I was perplex and ALONE to do this job!

First I elaborated the opening hours, than I created a “brochure” which was sent to all the houses in that small city (8k inhabitants) to inform them about this new service offered by the commune. I created also a “member card” of a value of 25€ for a whole year who gave the participants the right to visit the place to use only the internet (very few had Internet in 2002) and/or to take part of courses. The place was open on a 5/8, 5 days from Monday to Saturday from 8h30 am to 11h30 am and from 13h30 to 17h30. Monday and Wednesday mornings were reserved for Primary School classes from 08h am to 11h30 am. Saturday and Sunday was closed.

There were also evening courses organized and I collected about 1k6 (1,600) hours of overtime work during 1 1/2 year (non payed hours)! I couldn’t do that job anymore alone, BUT I din’t get a co-worker allowed neither. NO budget for it! I decided NOT anymore giving evening courses and giving the courses on a different way: people (learners) could visit the place whenever they wanted during the opening hours (only in the day) and I would give them courses individually and on different disciplines (security, Office, Photo Editing, website building, email, Skype…).

The learners had more autonomy, I let them work by PracTICE after first having them explained about the How-To shown with a beamer and then also on their own PC (there were 10 PCs in the Learning Room). They could come WHEN they wanted and for how long they wanted. They were completely FREE, no MUST, NO STRESS… I explained them, showed them, observed them (studied their behavior…) and interacted only when needed, when I felt that they must get a bit help to continue. I encouraged them to try by error till they would have learned it and when learned I showed them some tricks by giving advice on How-To do BETTER. It was ME who adjusted and adapted to them, a win-win situation. They learned slowly but surely and once the basics understood (the most important) they learned the other stuff to learn much more quick as they felt more confident about ICT. I encouraged them to practice at home which they all did. I asked them where they still have problems when practicing at home and WE repeated it on another way when possible, otherwise same procedure…

I was also constantly updating my “Professional Development” by reading lots of books (insatiable…):

Autonomy, TEAM, self-directed, autodidact, coaching, guide, analyzing learners constantly, adapting constantly, FAQ’s, PLN, PKM, SKYPE, VOIP Telephony, image editing, eMail, collaboration,

In 2015 Coaching-Mentoring Is Seen As An Education Difference-Maker

[START Text from On Educational Coaching, Mentoring & High-Impact Learning] Coaching is a difference-maker in education.  Think of the mindset evident in high-performing athletic teams, chess teams, even actors and other entertainers. Content providers are valuable, but that is not what makes learning organizations distinct, especially not those that seek to reach and provide a high-quality education to a full spectrum of learners. The same thing is true as we continue to implement things like competency-based education models. Many celebrate the way CBE can reduce the cost of college degrees, increasing access and opportunity, and addressing critical workforce needs. However, if cost reduction happens at the expense of great coaching and mentoring, I am concerned that we will make little progress in the democratization of education. The “haves and have nots” of education depend largely upon the prerequisite skills needed to take advantage of newer and emerging learning environments ranging from CBE to MOOCs, self-directed learning to self-organized learning environments. [END Text from On Educational Coaching, Mentoring & High-Impact Learning]

Feedback, Reflecting A MUST-Adapting Constantly

As already mentioned above, I asked a lot about WHERE some could have problems to understand and encouraged the learners to tell me, even I asked them to write down on the Flipchart questions they would have eventually. WE collected them all and when they were fit enough on the keyboard I let them create themselves (with my little help) a FAQ’s list (Frequently Asked Questions) and a glossary, see example below please.

Is My Proposed Way Of Coaching With ICT ONLY For Adult Learning!?

sharing iconThere is a lot of common from the above mentioned with youth coaching and could be applied as well for them! WHEN YOU make youth feeling being accepted as adults, they will give YOU more respect and it will be a GOOD atmosphere for BETTER learning also! I had teens visiting my “Learning Room [Internetstuff]” for the ONLY purpose to listen and to observe when I gave courses with coaching to the participants. They came in their FREE time when there wasn’t school and made their homework while observing also my “style of teaching, as they said”. I got told by some of them that they learned MORE in 2 hours about ICT than they learned in a month in school. And THAT is THE difference between theory and <===> PracTICE! <===>.

LEARNing To LEARN with ICT-How-TO? My PracTICE

As MOST of YOU know, I am an autodidact, a self-directed learner. I learn BETTER by doing it on my own, by searching my own articles, relevant to the topic which needs to get learned. Pursuing ALSO my learning by choosing the books which I decide to buy for my Professional Development! This time YOU will see a lot of “I’s” in my blog post here, different from usual, where I mostly use the WE. WHY!? Because it’s ME who is owning MY learning and I decide WHAT is BEST for me, that is working perfectly, I learn MUCH quicker! 😉

Another reason WHY I learn on my own is the BAD quality of courses around where adults are getting treated as pupils (Pedagogy) and NOT as mature persons (Andragogy)!! Aged 62 years (2017), I DON’T want to get treated as a 12 years old in courses, I won’t feel comfortable at all!! It’s about time that EDUcators, TEACHers, Instructors get training about ANDRAGOGY!

WHAT is Andragogy?

Text from Wikipedia: Andragogy refers to methods and principles used in adult education.[1][2] The word comes from the Greek ἀνδρ- andr-, meaning “man”, and ἀγωγός agogos, meaning “leader of”; it literally means “leader of man”, whereas “pedagogy” literally means “leading children”.[3]

Check out also my PracTICE, the How-To I gave courses for adults and seniors on Andragogy concept below, please:

You might be interested as well to find out about:

FIRST of all, DON’T fear about learning new stuff, even if it feels strange and NOT understandable up from the beginning! There might be strange words in the learning texts which YOU don’t know YET; but by reading different texts you will understand these words and later understanding ALSO the whole! I learnt that way, it takes time on the beginning, BUT later you will learn very quickly! It’s like an exponential curve

STILL following “WE have ALWAYS done it this way” OR ALREADY on Growth-Mindset!?

STILL following “WE have ALWAYS done it this way” OR ALREADY on Growth-Mindset!?

.

Most dangerous phrase...

.

STILL following “WE have ALWAYS done it this way” OR ALREADY on Growth-Mindset!?

Following the masses...Well, when analyzing posts from EDUcators, TEACHers from around the world on Social-Media twitter since 2009 already, I must admit (excuse-me please…) that MOST of THEM are still on a Fixed-Mindset! Very rare are those who have already adapted their mind to 21st Century Modern-EDUcation, just following the (m)asses in twitter-chats which are rigorously following one solely task <===> getting EDU-Stars <===> and using the tweets (advice, practice…) to publish books about it!!

Most of EDUcators, TEACHers are STILL on a <===> Fixed Mindset <===> acting with outdated pedagogical behavior and NOT willing to change it! THEY praise how good they are with an incredible arrogance (mostly from Germany and the US) and even are blocking OTHER educative persons as they don’t fit in their outdated scheme!!

Feedback is NOT welcome to those persons as they don’t have yet understood WHAT Social-Media is; they still think that they are in THEIR classroom AND in THEIR country and can do WHAT THEY want!! Well, that isn’t for sure the case. On Social-Media, especially on twitter, other EDUcators, TEACHers from around the globe can interact and give their feedback (if they are courageous enough…)! One posted tweet goes around the world and isn’t anymore national!! On the internet there are NO borders!!!

Learn more:

mediocrity-reward-nice-talking.

Giving feedback the wrong way by Fixed-Mindset (with outdated pedagogical background…) is ALSO the wrong way!! WHEN one talks (post on Social-Media) one is MOSTLY interacted with adults and NOT pupils! Thus meaning: there SHOULD NOT Pedagogy to get used BUT <===> Andragogy!!! A lack of knowledge (Professional Development is a century behind…) by using ICT and Social-Media by posting that half-baked stuff is harming any professionals of EDUcation!

.

Learn more:

ELVIS IMPERSONATORSTHOSE EDUcators, TEACHers on Social-Media WHO are leading some Twitter-Chats are doing a WRONG LEADERSHIP in the sole purpose of becoming infamous <===> EDUStars <===> and DON’T take care about the right leading way!! WHEN after four (4) OR five (5) years of running a twitter-chat one is still on the same path and didn’t come much further, one should ask WHY!!

Learn more:

MOST EDUcators, TEACHers are focused on TEACHING and NOT on LEARNING; that’s already a Fixed-Mindset as in Modern-EDUcation WE are already since long on the way how students, learners can go for BETTER learning and especially on <===> LEARNing-To-LEARN <===> for <===> Life-Long LEARNing!!

Social-Media shows very well, by analyzing, WHAT’S going on in Virtual-World and ALSO shows WHERE EDUcators, TEACHers have to work hard on to become BETTER!! Using modern tools ALONE ISN’T Modern-EDUcation; it’s the Mindshift from Fixed-Mindset to Growth-Mindset first by using ALSO Modern Pedagogy!!

Simple BUT WRONG.

Actually (July 2017), the Growth-Mindset ISN’T YET used by MOSTLY EDUcators, TEACHers as THEY DIDN’T have read the last research books from <===> Carol DWECK <===> NOR that THEY follow any other research!! THEY choose the easy way, instead of being informed to give THE BEST EDUcation to OUR students, learners!

Text below from EDUTOPIA:

5 Growth Mindset Practices

In their groundbreaking book, Professional Learning Communities at Work, Richard DuFour and Robert Eaker say it clearly when pointing out the issue that comes about when change initiatives are considered “a task to complete rather than an ongoing process.” If we really want to improve our schools, our work, and the education of our students, we can do so by adopting a new mindset — for everyone — that would include:

  1. Being humble enough to accept that there are things about ourselves and our practices that can improve
  2. Becoming part of professional teams that value constructive critique instead of criticism
  3. Treating setbacks as formative struggles within the learning process instead of summative failures
  4. Realizing the restrictive role that timelines can play in reaching high standards, and using foundational philosophies such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to map systems so that everyone’s growth is supported
  5. Create flexible grouping at all times so that nobody’s trapped in any one course level or particular type of work.

Technology integration as a process

As mentioned earlier, technology integration is a process that is incorporated in lesson planning. It is not about picking up an app and forcing it into teaching to make it more attractive. With pedagogy steering the process, the first step is to identify the learning objectives. Typically, the teacher will then decide on the methods and assessment tools to achieve learning objectives in a student-centered learning environment.

WRONG USE OF TOOLSEDUcators, TEACHers STILL think as being pressed into a special scheme, the <===> #SchoolCocoon scheme <===> instead of thinking as <===> NO BOX <===>, nor is EDUcation in collaboration with the working-force and industry!! THAT collaboration, especially, is a MUST in the 21st Century, please check below:

It’s a fact: digital skills are now needed for most jobs. And industry is best placed to assess market needs and work-based skills gaps. The solution? Offering more training in Information and Communication Technologies, and bridging the gap between research and industry.

There is an interesting  twitter chat to follow, WHO goes a bit deeper in Modern-EDUcation <===> #EdChatMENA!

VERY rare are <===> Professional EDUcators, TEACHers <===> WHO are present on Social-Media twitter!! THEY are STILL a minority, in the hope that THIS will change in the next years and THAT THEY will NOT get blocked by counterfeit LEADERship from OTHERS!!! There is a need for more courage from professionals to fight this!

The pace of technological change is faster than ever, creating entirely new types of jobs and industries. Novel skills are required for new technologies to be used and shared. The workforce of today and tomorrow needs to be digitally savvy and enterprising. This is why the Government, together with a number of private players, work jointly on preparing current and future generations for the digital age. The Luxembourg Tech School is a project, which has been launched to train future digital leaders. Kick-starting innovative projects that benefit the country, Digital Lëtzebuerg – together with the Ministry of Education and the SCRIPT, supported the Luxembourg Tech School from day one. Discover for yourself what the 32 students of the first intake have been up to!

Let us have ALSO a look on WHAT Finland is doing:

Instead of control, competition, stress, standardized testing, screen-based schools and loosened teacher qualifications, try warmth, collaboration, and highly professionalized, teacher-led encouragement and assessment.

At the University of Eastern Finland’s Normaalikoulu teacher training school in Joensuu, Finland, you can see Hietava’s students enjoying the cutting-edge concept of “personalized learning.”

Maker-First Steps in Electronics, the basics

Maker-First Steps in Electronics, the basics

.

Where to start?

platine-hartpapier

Strip-Board

I propose to work with system when WE use strip-boards; thus meaning: preparing them ALL the same way. Any electronics project will need a power supply, so WE will start with the power supply which will mostly be a 9 Volt battery. WE will use the outside strips to connect them to plus and minus and WE will ALSO provide a diode (1N4007) to protect against polarity reversal. As a newbie in electronics this might be the best way to protect you to destroy the electronic parts if + and – would get reversed 😉 With normal rectifier diodes the power supply voltage will typically drop by 0.8 volts. WE will have then ONLY 8.2 Volts which is enough in most cases.

WE will solder also a PCB-Connector (Printed Circuit Board Connector) where we can feed the strip-board with the power supply.

.

SO, as WE will solder a bit, it will be also a soldering training before we start on more serious projects later 😉

Check below please how the finished project will look, which we will discuss in detail on the How-To. WE use a 100 mm x 75 mm strip-board (CONRAD 529531 – 62  for 2,19€).

Necessary material

.

screw-terminal-2-pins.

.

In above image I used a 2 pin screw terminal from CONRAD (1192188 – 62) for 0,28€ and for the wire I choose from a “Wire Kit from Velleman” (60 m from different colors).

  • full core, 0.2mm²
  • colours: 5 metres : white / blue / brown / green / yellow / orange / grey / violet + 10 metres : black / red
  • external diameter: 1.4 mm
  • max. voltage: 60 V
  • max. current: 4.3 A
  • PVC insulation
  • tinned CU
  • AWG24

.

To make sure to have proper bent edges; I suggest to bend the diode (1N4007) over the left-hand side shown “Wire Bender” (CONRAD 425869 – 62  at 3,29€).

.

.

First start to solder the 2 pin screw terminal in the middle of the strip-board, followed by the diode (1N4007). Now measure the distance and cut the wires. For the red wire (Plus) it will be 4 cm (3 cm distance), the blue wire (Minus) will be 6 cm (5 cm distance). Take the electronics cutter and strip off o,5 cm of the insulation at each end and bend it. Put it into the holes in the strip-board and solder it. P.S.: WE will use the red wire for the Plus (+) and the blue wire for the Minus (-) of the power supply; that are internationally conventions in electronics. Sometimes for the Minus (-) is also used the black color (see 9 Volt battery clip).

When WE want to start with electronics there is a little bit theory to learn as well; in electronics there are special symbols who get used in schematics. Any component (even a battery) has its own symbol. In the following tutorials and projects, WE will learn by easy step-by-step WHAT they are and HOW to make OUR PracTICE (to GET used to it…) with them. I am certainly NOT a friend of learning by heart, BUT symbols need to get learned that way to understand schematics of electronics!

Strip-Board tutorial with Fritzing

Here below a small description about the How-To to work with strip-boards in general:

.

.

After viewing the above tutorial YOU will understand. The above tutorial uses the FREE software “Fritzing” which WE will use as well in the next blog posts; you can download it here:

Here the wiring and soldering on the strip-board, as well as the parts list:

.

.

resistor-color-chartAs You have remarked, I added ALSO a resistor and a LED (Light-Emitting Diode); the red (could also bee a green one) LED is lightning when the power supply (9 Volt battery) is connected. SO, YOU might solder the two components (330 Ohm resistor and LED) as well, not mandatory BUT it will give YOU a bit more training on soldering and alerts YOU to NOT solder when it is on!! NEVER work on whatever project with connected (switched on) power supply <===> Safety first!

WHY has the resistor a value of 330 Ohm?

In above example we used a 5 mm red LED with this characteristics: 2.25 Volt and 20 mA current (that’s the maximum values which DON’T have to become higher otherwise the LED will get destroyed) and as power supply we use a 9 Volts battery.  WE will use the “Online Calculator” to calculate the value of the resistor. First let us do some mental calculation, there WE DON’T need any calculator. WE have a 9 Volts battery and the LED will have maximum 2.25 Volts, so “9 V – 2.25 V = 6.75 V” which needs to get taken away from the LED to avoid destruction.

.

led-series-resistor-calculator-330-ohm

..

THAT value of 337.5 Ohms doesn’t exist! Resistors are manufactured by following <===> In 1952 the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) decided to define the resistance and tolerance values into a norm, to ease the mass manufacturing of resistors. These are referred to as preferred values or E-series, and they are published in standard IEC 60063:1963. These standard values are also valid for other components like capacitors, inductors and Zener diodes. The preferred values for resistors were established in 1952, but the concept of the geometric series was already introduced by army engineer Renard in the 1870s.

By checking the below link, WE will see that the closest value is 330 Ohm. BTW: The symbol for “Ohm” is “Ω“; SO, we write 330 Ω. Tip: You find it in the “Special Characters” in any editing software.

framing-in-educationMY experience described in ONLY some phrases: Give the LEARNers, students (whatever age) the freedom of LEARNing without squeezing THEM into a FRAME and concentrate on guiding them as a coach by analyzing THEIR behavior and show them the How-To to become self-directed learners, autodidacts. SHOW THEM ALSO up from the beginning WHAT THE <===> LEARNing Path <===> will be with design of it and explain THEM that they could design themselves it with a short introduction on the How-To. THEY will learn the ICT-PracTICE which will help them once out of the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> to be ready for Life-Long LEARNing and to be able to adapt very quickly in the workforce! WHEN YOU show the LEARNers, students <===> WHAT the profit is for THEIR private life <===> YOU will engage them very quickly 😉 AND DON’T teach THEM more as necessary, propose them some links to go further ONLY for those who want!!

Check ALSO (Up from 11 years old, give THEM THE confidence THEY need to grow):

WHAT’S my message and WHY did I create this blog post!?

Well, I will encourage all youth and also adults, seniors, oldies to become <===>Life-Long LEARNers <===> and staying Up-To-Date with their knowledge, especially concerning their skills in ICT, called NOW <===> #eSkills <===>! In the modern world YOU will change YOUR job probably +/- 12 times in YOUR working career, it is very rare to stay life-long in the same job and/or same company!!! SO… The workforce is looking for people with ICT skills which YOU mostly didn’t learn at school, right!?

Bring in YOUR kids to such creative makerplaces WHERE THEY can develop (and perhaps parents as well…) THEIR creativity and GET interested in something WHICH could boost THEIR interest into ICT in their future 😉

YOU won’t have (mostly) the time to learn by visiting courses, right!? START to become Life-Long LEARNers by LEARNing on YOUR OWN pace, by becoming <===> Autodidacts <===> Self-Directed LEARNers. YOU are able to, I did it, so can YOU!? 😉

I found a job because of my ICT eSkills and I am STILL LEARNing on a daily base routine for being Up-To Date with my <===> Professional Development <===>, even being retired NOW! THE pleasure of LEARNing!

I did THE <===> ICT PracTICE <===> and THAT’S WHAT the workforce needs!!!

Due to my eSkills I could share my knowledge AND expertise ALSO with the below mentioned as well as to a broad range of visitors from around the globe!

Pssst, THE MOST IMPORTANT in EDUcation: understanding!!

Pssst, THE MOST IMPORTANT in EDUcation: understanding!!

.

Evolution of Education: Wordle Logo

.

IF A, B, C aren’t understood then Z will be a disaster!!!

Teaching the profession that....

First of all I won’t have a look about the How-To students do, BUT about the TEACHers, EDUcators (LEHRENDE) do on Social Media Twitter and Facebook which I am analyzing since 2009 already. THAT’S the persons in EDUcation which have THE responsibility to prepare OUR students, learners for the workingforce/labour/industry!!

Well, it’s good for THEM that there isn’t any (NOT YET) system which grades them about WHAT THEY are posting, honestly! While using so-called 21st Century tools (NO, NO, Apps aren’t included here; THEY are ONLY facilitators…) THEY are STILL on linear thinking with an outdated “OLD-Mentality”..

The NEW Pedagogy isn’t in mind; must be “Fixed-Mindset” to NOT apply it, excuse-me please!! ONLY using ICT and tools without using Up-To-Date Pedagogy is the WRONG way! 😉

There are already so many research and posts on Social Media about the NEW Pedagogy, so many books since ages from renown experts about EDUcation and the majority of EDUcators, TEACHers present on Social Media haven’t read them!!!

mediocrity-reward-nice-talking.

I am NOT bashing EDUcators, TEACHers, BUT giving STRONG feedback and criticism if necessary; and that is why fore I created this blog post!!! I can’t see this anymore, this naivety grown in the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> and amplified through the Social Media posts from average (Mediocrity), NOT professional persons which use Social Media in the solely purpose of becoming so-called “EDU-STARS”, looking to shine with dusty titles and ONLY nice talking with NOT UP-TO-DATE Professional Development!!!

People WHO lost ETHICS and the value of the profession of <===> EDUcators, TEACHers <===> are a BIG shame for the system of EDUcation and are guiding the readers, parents, politicians, students on the WRONG path!!! YES, this is happening… 😦 Mostly those selfish persons are using the Twitter Chats to GET a maximum of followers and later to create a book with the knowledge of their PLN on twitter; they earn the money from the knowledge of OTHERS!!! Funny, isn’t it…

dunce-hat-170And those who give them feedback in the chats GET blocked, as it doesn’t fit to their “Fixed-Mindset“, that’s really EDUcation, isn’t it!!!  😦 NO, NO, I don’t say in which Twitter Chats such poor EDUcation behavior gets used, the chats itself are NOT BAD, BUT some of their moderators have special behaviors…

OLD (outdated…) EDUcation Mentality mixed together with ICT and Modern-EDUcation DOESN’T fit together!!! With an NOT Up-To-Date Professional Development they GO against ANY modern psychology and modern Pedagogy!!! THEY block OTHERS on Twitter, making a MORE BAD reputation as EDUcators, TEACHers have already!! NO wonder THAT MOST people have a BAD memory about school!!! One should think that such behavior doesn’t exist anymore, but even after 40 years I have left school it STILL is! Some (a lot actually…) Educators, Teachers act as if they were untouchable (feeling like GODS), treating adult people like pupils and DON’T use <===> Andragogy (adult learning) <===>,  they forget about WHAT Social Media is; THE word “Social” is in it!

[START text from Edutopia] Teachers choose to humiliate students for several reasons: to gain control over them, because the teacher is desperate; to frighten other students; or because they’re over-compensating for their own lack of confidence. WE DON’T need OLD mentality combined with 21st Century tools!! And as YOU know me, mostly a music video 😉

cherry-pickers-gust-meesOK, giving anybody a chance in case if THEY missed it… It’s never too late to learn about modern Education and to adjust for BETTER. The “Professional Development” as done actually in MOST countries is running FAR behind!! EDucators, Teachers are getting fed by small pieces (linear…), mostly about tools; THAT is the WRONG way!!

WHAT about understanding  the WHOLE before starting to follow trends and getting fed with cherry-picking stuff!!

I MUST say it AGAIN, excuse-me please; read the above mentioned books to know THE path YOU are going!! YOU are NOT going THIS path ALONE as YOU teach YOUR students with and through the acquired knowledge <===> take YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, please 😉

WHEN have read “5 Minds for the Future“, YOU will see THE text of below image. Keep it in mind for ANY learning and posting on Social Media, THAT’S Modern-Education!!

The NEW Pedagogy is MORE about the learners, students and to put THEM into the drivers seat; looking to find a Win-Win situation about THE How-To to GET THEM learning together in a team (EVEN outside the School-Cocoon with Social Media…) and to prepare THEM for the workforce/labor/industry by being able for <===> Learning-To-Learn <===> for a Life-Long Learning once out of school!

That’s a question which I get asked very often; BUT it isn’t actually NOT that difficult to do! ALL depends ONLY on the <===> Open Mind and knowledge about NEW Pedagogy <===> as well as THE acceptance to work together in a classroom!! WE ALL know that time is an IMPORTANT factor in Teaching AND Learning; so let us start up from there: it is a factor which WE can adjust (MOST think [really!?] that one can’t change it; time itself one can’t change, BUT the way WE employ time WE can! 😉

WHY do I mention the word “Time“!? EVER thought about on How-To people learn!? Some are learning very quickly and others need MORE time as OTHERS to understand! BUT THEY ALL have to follow THE same scheme and rhythm in EDUcation, sounds strange isn’t it 😉

Reflections and advice for BETTER

[START text from Are Distinct Disciplines and Time Blocks the Way to Go in School? We know that separating learning into discrete subjects and time blocks is not the best way to prepare kids for the real world. [END Text from Are Distinct Disciplines and Time Blocks the Way to Go in School?] Read the complete article below please:

SO, as knowing this, WOULDN’T it be BETTER to organize lessons THAT WAY: e.g. let us take history; one lesson of history about whatever subject followed by an language course (English for example…) WHICH is treating exactly the same knowledge by teaching vocabulary, history parts (snippets) about what was taught in previous lesson and later the learners, students would get asked to create a blog post about it and to make ALSO some curation about the treated topic!?.

Getting ready for Modern-EDUcation: FIRST try to understand WHAT it is

Getting ready for Modern-EDUcation: FIRST try to understand WHAT it is

.

Evolution of Education: Wordle Logo

.

Modern-EDUcation: FIRST try to understand WHAT it is before taking the wrong path!

programmerman-animatedLet us be honest: EDUcation is far behind of WHAT it should be able to face the challenges of a modern world which is evolving quicker than WE can follow! Because of ICT everything is nearly possible: NEW professions are emerging through NEW ideas; Entrepreneurship is one of the biggest evolving one. One can’t count anymore the possibilities, nor predict WHAT will be next professions! SO, WHAT does this mean for EDUcation!?

EDUcation can’t follow, nor adapt THAT quickly, without talking about the minds behind WHO don’t want to change as well!!! SO, is there any possibility for students, learners, THEY could be benefiting with and/for an Up-To-Date knowledge!? YES, there is a solution: students and learners should get taught about <===> LEARNing-To-LEARN <===> so that they would be able for <===> Life-Long LEARNing, this is THE BEST way to look for a <===> Long-Term solution <===> as one can’t get ALL the necessary knowledge anymore in schools!!

Please read:

WE should go on <===> Proactive THINKing <===> to adjust this well known situation and to adapt by teaching the students learners the way of <===> Learning-To-Learn <===> and to encourage them to become autodidacts, self-directed learners! That’s THE BEST way for them to stay <===> Up-To-Date <===> and that’s WHAT is counting in a modern and ever growing society! The workforce/industry needs this to be competitive!

FIRST of all WE need to know WHAT are the skills students need to have

.

what-skills-will-you-need-to-succeed-in-the-future_5061e259a60b6_w587

.

There is a Windows dominance on the market!!! SO, don’t use ONLY Apple products in your school, BUT make for sure that YOUR LEARNers, Students will know and have the skills to work on that “OS”; of course you might use as well iPads! BUT make sure that there is a mix of different “OS” anyway. As educational persons WE have a BIG Responsibility to prepare OUR Students, LEARNers for the future! NO Cherry-Picking allowed!!! NO preferences for #AnyOS #AnyDevice!!! A mixture of THEM YES, orientated about WHAT “OS” is leading the market.

How can EDUcators TEACHers and EDU understand WHAT Modern EDU is!?

change-gartner-2016Well, there are some really good books which will help EDUcators TEACHers to understand WHAT Modern-EDU and NEW pedagogy is to be prepared for THE CHANGE; YES it is a BIG CHANGE which might not be easy for lots as THE role of the EDUcators TEACHers will change; NOT having anymore the control, the power, of a classroom BUT being a coach WHO is trying to get a win-win situation TOGETHER with the learners, students. Personally I think that fearing to lose the control and power is the common point for most educating persons for NOT adapting to Modern-EDU!

BUT, THAT is wrong! You will get even more recognized and respected WHEN you play the coach role; my experience over ten (10) years. Put the students in the drivers seat, let them teach also and learn also from them 😉

SO, read FIRST my selection of books, which helped ME to understand about Modern-EDU and where that acquired knowledge led me, please:

.

MUST READ BOOKS

.

For BEST understanding I recommend to YOU to start first with “5 Minds for the Future“, followed by “FOUR-DIMENSIONAL EDUCATION” and then “The App Generation“.

If YOU are multilingual (English, French, German), you might read as well my books selection which I have read and which helped me a lot:

.

Check about WHAT the book “5 Minds for the Future” is:

.

Synthesizing Mind-5 Minds for the future

.

Linear learning was YESTERDAY; imagine learning <===> time, too long to catch up when only A, then B, Then C… Check AGAIN the PIC above, please 😉

Time is ALSO a very IMPORTANT part of Modern-EDU to adjust for quicker learning WHEN knowing about “TEAM-TEACHing“, called ALSO “Co-TEACHing” and the How-To about making learning really meaningful and professional, check below, please:

.

What are the barriers to overcome for that THE CHANGE happens? Obstacles to make the next steps to Modern-EDU

.

1ibdy1vf6wghd-n05dgl-aigainformation1Without a lot of talking myself, I invite you to read the following articles which explain  at its BEST:

.

Quote from [https://twitter.com/kimgarst] “If you don’t leave your past in the past, it WILL destroy your future. Live for what today has to offer, not for what yesterday has taken away.

You have to fight against OTHERS who are NOT wanting THE CHANGE, the “StatusQuo” advocates, make curation WHERE you will curate the necessary arguments to convince and/or beat them with their OWN arguments!!

.

.

Listening, very important:

.

How to become GREAT Teachers, EDUcators which understand about Modern-EDU?

mediocrity-reward-nice-talking.

There are TOO MANY average (Mediocrity) EDUcators TEACHers around, Students and LEARNers need BETTER!!! Educational persons SHOULD read the below curated articles and finding out on WHAT they have to improve, please 😉

Coaches and/or mentors are a MUST

programmerman-animatedAs already mentioned in my first phrases of this blog post, with normal training for “Professional Development”, YOU can’t catch UP quickly enough!! SO, are there different ways? YES, by using Social Media, especially Twitter YOU can create a #PLN, a “Personal [Professional] Learning Network” from where YOU can learn already together, even ALSO by using Twitter Chats.

Learn more:

BUT there is ALSO another way: using blogs! Sounds strange? Well, with “WordPress” this is possible as YOU can invite co-authors on the same blog post and coaching over Twitter with “DM” (Direct Messages, called ALSO Private Messages) YOUR co-authors. I do this already since 2007-2008, started it on “Google Knol”, who was discontinued on May 1, 2012 where  I was one of the Knol-TOP10-English authors and also Author-of-the-Week in November 2009 with more than 1.4 millions of visits. “Google Knol” is one of LOTS of OTHER products from Google WHO are on the “Google Grave Yard“!

.

Gust MEES-Knol-Author-Of-The-Week-2009

.

Later I started blogging on WordPress and as I missed it working together with OTHERS, I did my coaching with EDUcators, TEACHers from different countries by inviting THEM to become co-authors on some of my blog posts. I was the editor and THEY were the co-authors, meaning they had a bit restrictions ONLY on WHAT to do with the main blog. SO, THEY learned about the How-To to use blogs (WordPress) through my coaching and ALSO about THE TOPIC WE were writing about; the coaching was done through Twitter “DM’s”; WE used blogs AND Twitter!

I did a LOT of those “Global-Collaboration” on blogging with different co-authors and I encourage everybody to do the same as it is a GREAT experience as one learns from each other 😉

WHAT could be done different while using ICT and NEW Pedagogy

programmerman2.

Well, that is a question I get asked very often; it is actually NOT that difficult, it just needs to understand WHAT Modern-EDU is and WHAT are THE tools (NO, NO, NOT Apps…, THEY are ONLY facilitators) WE can use to give OUR Students, LEARNers the necessary skills to survive in an ever changing world.

.

Check below, please:

Check out my Learning-Path with ICT Practice to get the idea about it, please:

SO many information, THE letter “I” in ICT, I can’t follow anymore!! Well, I can understand YOU, BUT there is a solution for it! 😉 Through curation and Social-Media (by creating a PLN on Twitter…) YOU can create a <===> Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management (PKM), check my blog post below please: PKM – Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management:

And WHAT Is About Creativity!?

Let us start with a video from <===> Sir Ken ROBINSON <===>, please listen to it. Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity.

.

.

There is actually a BIG move to creativity in EDUcation worldwide, e.g. <===> THE Maker-Movement; please check below for more information:

WHAT will influence EDUcation in the future!?

Is there something which one can predict, without being a wizard!? YES; for sure as persons WHO read constantly on each day WHAT is NEW on technology and science as well as research papers one can say this, see below, please:

Creativity and Maker-Spaces | maach3 LTEttelbruck

marcteusch_2013-390x390As on October 26th 2016 I had an interview with Marc TEUSCH in the Makerspace maach3” in LTEttelbruck. This is the third interview from EDUcation in Luxembourg of a series which I intend to do; the first one was about <===> Luxembourg EDUcation-Interviews | 1) The Luxembourg EDU-System, followed by Luxembourg EDUcation-Interviews | 5) Creativity and Maker-Spaces | BEECREATIVE. For me personally it was ALSO a pleasure to visit the place as it was my old school, lots of memories and lots of positive changes in the last 40 years since I left the place… I hereby thank a lot Mr. Marc TEUSCH for having accepted my request for having an interview with him. My first request was made over Social Media Twitter (on DM; Private Message) as WE are following each other.

First WE were talking about on the HOW the “Makerspaces” were created in Luxembourg and from WHERE they come (the ideas…); as Marc told me that it isn’t a NEW idea, it actually started in the “Hackerspaces“, where Marc was ALSO involved in SYN2CAT/LEVEL2 Hackerspace Luxembourg, where I made an interview recently, Digital Luxembourg Interviews-Hackerspaces-SYN2CAT-LEVEL2, as one of its creators and founders. Marc had the idea to create a “Makerspace” in 2012 on its working place at “LTEttelbruck“, first experiments were created… And it was on March 6th 2013 that Marc was speaking about “Makerspaces” on a TEDxLuxembourg event, check video below please:

.

.

Let us have a look on THE How-To “Makerspaces” in Luxembourg are working, its Philosophy and Concept, by checking the “Mindmap” below:

.

whats-in-a-makerspace

Click the Mindmap, please, to enlarge it.

.

The idea and concept of the current BEE Creative project (http://www.bee-creative.lu), which is part of the ministry’s Digital(4)Education (http://www.digital4education.lu) effort, was conceived and developed by Marc and as such, he’s the national coordinator of Makerspaces in Luxembourg (http://www.makerspace.lu).

[Gust MEES] Remark the “Flat Hierarchy“, I love it! THIS is exactly WHAT is necessary for “Creativity” <===> Let it GO, let it flow… <===> and with THIS concept I am sure by 100% that it will be a success!!! I wish I would be 45 years younger to participate in it 😉

THIS “Concept” as used in Luxembourg is unique in Europe!! It’s ONLY in its beginning phase, BUT [Marc TEUSCH] told me WHAT is foreseen on a “Long-Term view”:

  • Getting Makerspaces in ALL schools in Luxembourg
  • Possibility to bring in Makerspaces into the curriculum, ideas and preparation on its way…
  • Makerspaces could (and should be…) a trampoline between the schools (THEORY) and the workingforce/Industry (PracTICE) to close the gap…
    • [Gust MEES] I completely agree with THAT!! I remember when I had my first job in the industry and I faced THE DIFFERENCE between the learned AND <===> SchoolCocoon Mentality <===> and WHAT really happens in the PracTICE!! OMG, I suffered :(((

.

Check ALSO, please:

.

It was in December 2013 that Marc TEUSCH was contacted by “SCRIPT” from “Luxembourg EDUcation” where he presented his ideas and vision about “Makerspaces” in Luxembourg, which was heartily welcomed as the country was looking for a NEW strategy in EDUcation to prepare it to the freshly launched campaign about “Digital Luxembourg” AND “Digital4EDUcation“.

Learn more:

.

As a reminder about WHAT the strategy is, check PIC below, please:

.

Digital 4 EDUcation-Luxembourg-2015-2-BEECREATIVE

.

Makerspaces are a GREAT way to close the gap between schools (THEORY) and the workingforce/Industry as the learners can GET the “PracTICE-Feeling” through tinkering around in the “Makerspaces” and the “Coaches” will see ALSO WHO has capabilities to GET guided to a “PracTICE-LEARNing“… This is called “Orientation Professionnelle” in the “Luxembourg EDUSystem“…

Actually there are already +/- 20 Makerspaces ready to launch by Februray 2017 and more in preparation…

My Personal View AND PracTICE

.

Framing in EDUcation[Gust MEES] MY experience described in ONLY some phrases: Give the LEARNers, students (whatever age) the freedom of LEARNing without squeezing THEM into a FRAME and concentrate on guiding them as a coach by analyzing THEIR behavior and show them the How-To to become self-directed learners, autodidacts.

Check ALSO (Up from 11 years old, give THEM THE confidence THEY need to grow):

.

Framing in EDUcation

The <===> Makerspace Movement <===> ISN’T something NEW actually as it happend already +/- 45-50 years ago with an other name! At that time it was called <===> Do It Yourself (#DIY) <===> and was seen as pure HOBBY and NOT endorsed by EDUcation! SO, it took minimum 45 years before EDUcation realized its importance!

WHY do I say this? Well, I was one of those pioneers at that time in my youth; I used already electronics (transistors, integrated circuits, LED displays and also analog displays…) in my learning in PracTICE projects as it wasn’t foreseen yet… I won ALSO an electronics contest in 1979 from Germanic countries, which later helped me to find a BETTER job!

For evidence, here some pictures below:

Coaching in Modern EDUcation, the benefits

Framing in EDUcation.

Learners, students learn BETTER when their brain is free, without any framing, thus meaning: include them into the learning process by guiding them through the <===> LEARNing Process <===> instead of teaching ONLY linear lessons WHERE YOU are the BOSS, give up control and look for a Win-Win situation WHERE students, learners have a voice; WHERE THEY can take THEIR OWN responsibility of THEIR LEARNing. Coach THEM (the students, learners) THE How-To of <===> #LEARNing2LEARN <===> because THAT IS <===> #ModernEDU <===> which they need to be prepared for <===> #LifeLongLEARNing <===> by using Social Media, especially Twitter to build THEIR <===> #PLN Personal [Professional] LEARNing Network <===> through Curation combined with Social Media. And through THAT LEARNing-Path THEY will be able to create THEIR OWN #PKM <===> Personal [Professional] Knoledge Management.

students-workforceAND there are also the “Apps“, BUT don’t forget that THEY are ONLY facilitators, they are NOT the change in 21st Century EDUcation; THE change is applying the pedagogy and the 21st Century techniques together. In 21st Century EDUcation it is NOT anymore about the teaching, BUT about the LEARNing and the ===> LEARNing-To-LEARN <=== to give OUR LEARNers, students the necessary knowledge and skills for a ===> Life-Long-LEARNing <=== Once out of school THEY will need constantly to learn to adapt to a very quick changing world!

I suggest to make ===> Coaching <=== with YOUR LEARNers, students where YOU walk through the rows in the classroom by observing THEM and to interact with them ONLY when they need it, learn together with them and create a ===> win-win situation <===, NO hierarchy, BUT a trustful partnership with them. I have done this since 2002 and it works perfect, best results! Find out more below:

In the above mentioned links YOU will see how WE learned together in OUR ===> Global Collaboration Blog <=== by ===> Coaching <=== through using the “DM” (Direct Messages) from Twitter, YES WE used Twitter, it works perfect😉 The same as WE used OUR blogs to communicate and to show OUR LEARNing to others, so that THEY could learn also from us.

The difference between coaching and mentoring

Coaching-mentoring

Click the above image please to access the article.

Please read the following article below who explains in detail:

[START text from “What Makes Coaching and Mentoring Different?“]

Mentoring

Mentoring is much more hands on and interpersonal.  As a leader or supervisor you are working hands on with a team member to facilitate the learning process.  Mentoring is sharing experiences, skills, and knowledge. It often takes place with an individual who is learning something that they have no previous knowledge about and it is something that they will need to master or at least be proficient in. Or it maybe learning how to navigate through an organization or explore new career paths.

Coaching

On the other hand, coaching generally does not focus on hard skill such as accounting, project management, or programming to name a few.  Coaching is a process that helps one to explore what may be holding them back from their true potential and often is focused more on behaviors than skills.

Think of a baseball coach, someone who is with the team and letting them do the work, however he/she will review the team and try to better their abilities across the field.  However imagine the same coach working with his pitcher and trying to teach him how to properly throw a curve ball.  The first scenario is simply coaching the team to raise productivity, and the second is mentoring an individual who is trying to learn a new skill or ability that he/she might not be able to properly learn on his or her own.

LEARNing Path For Professional 21st Century LEARNing By ICT PracTICE Concept

LEARNing2LEARN-2.

.

Over the years I developed and designed a possibility on the How-To use ICT for LEARNing and TEACHing which will prepare the LEARNers, students to fulfill the needs of the working market. It is mostly build up by coaching and NOT TEACHing as a <===> Win-Win situation is in mind and ALSO Collaboration <===> which are key factors in a modern society.

.

.

.

Let us first have a look on the How-To design a course which gives the learners, students some engagement as THEY could reproduce it themselves after YOU showed them the How-To and will bring in some creativity as well 😉

What's this coaching thing about

.

WE will use THAT system as shown on left-hand side shown image, isn’t it 😉 WE will give OUR learners, students autonomy and coaching them to become <===> Life-Long LEARNers <===> by <===> LEARNing To LEARN <===> through collaboration, by using blogging, curation, Social Media and by putting them into the drivers seat. THEY will learn to take responsibility to survive in a bi-directional world (Real World and Virtual World are interacting…) and WE will coaching THEM as well to be responsible <===> Digital CitiZEN <===> by LEARNing about the basics of <===> Cyber Security <===> as well and ALSO about <===> eSkills <===> as it is THEIR world with ALL the problems present which THEY have to fight for and in it!

WHAT Will Influence EDUcation In The Future?

programmerman-animatedThrough ICT the Real-World and especially the Virtual-World (both are influencing each other…) are changing quicker then WE can learn about, BUT WE must adapt to it and so must EDUcation! Therefore Universities must do research about the How-To to adapt and teaching about it… Luxembourg, a small country in Europe is doing so in September 2016, read more:

Luxembourg has already a “strategy to promote media literacy” as I got told in an interview, see image below please and click on the image to access the article.

.

There is ALSO Finland WHO made a radical change to its EDUcation-Sytem, check below please: Finland uses <===> Phenomenon based learning

Meanwhile, before research finishes its studies, WE can already have a look on WHAT is NEW in Technology and WHAT probably would be of interest for EDUcation, as well as NEW Pedagogy Theories and NEW Trends:

.

Synthesizing Mind-5 Minds for the future

.

.

.

There will be a focus on Creativity as it was neglected too long in schools.

Because of the internet and Social Media there is NOW ALSO a new way of learning through collaboration, Global Collaboration, Peer-To-Peer Learning, mentoring, coaching:

AND as there is a global change in the way of HOW WE think about EDUcation, there are NOW ALSO <===> #TEACHerPreneurs:

There are ALSO drones and robots which could get easily integrated into Makerspaces and/or labs:

.

Blockchain

Click the image please to access the article.

.

WHEN WE talk about “Entrepreneurship“, then WE MUST ALSO talking about “Blockchain and Bitcoin” as THEY are a Game-Changer in the future, check below please:

AND as WE are using ICT: internet with iPad, tablet, smartphones, laptops, PCs, Macs, small computers such as Arduino, Raspberry PI and Co, the “Internet of Things” WE MUST ALSO have basics knowledge of “CyberSecurity“, check below please:

.

.

WE need ALSO to know about “Privacy“, “Digital Footprint” and “BIG DATA“, check below please:

In Europe, from the EU, there is already a manifesto for ModernEDU (eSkills), check below please:

And shouldn’t WE talk ALSO about “AI”, Artificial Intelligence?

And last but not least Apps. I put Apps on the END of this list as Apps are ONLY facilitators, it is Pedagogy FIRST!

.

With ALL the above mentioned possibilities, how can WE already NOW make a concept of LEARNing?

NO Framing in EDUcationWith ALL the above mentioned possibilities, how can WE already NOW make a concept of LEARNing? Please check my blog post below:

.

What is nearly for sure is THAT most courses will be PracTICE orientated, check my blog posts below, please:

And here WHAT probably will be the future, check below please:

How can WE get informed more about!? I advice YOU to read following (multilingual) books and to follow the mentioned persons below:

MUST read books to understand WHAT #ModernEDU is, see PIC below please.

MUST READ BOOKS

.

Framing in EDUcationMY experience described in ONLY some phrases: Give the LEARNers, students (whatever age) the freedom of LEARNing without squeezing THEM into a FRAME and concentrate on guiding them as a coach by analyzing THEIR behavior and show them the How-To to become self-directed learners, autodidacts. WHEN YOU show the LEARNers, students <===> WHAT the profit is for THEIR private life <===> YOU will engage them very quickly 😉 AND DON’T teach THEM more as necessary, propose them some links to go further ONLY for those who want!!

.

Check out my blog posts:

AND check my profile below as well, at the bottom of this blog post please! 😉
