What’s the secret of success while innovating?

I hear you screaming already: I would like to be innovative, I even have some ideas BUT I am fearing about WHAT OTHERS would say and think about!! To be honest, NEVER look about WHAT OTHERS would say, innovation is something NEW and the new will GET up from the beginning NO acceptance, apart from a few which Professional-Development is Up-To-Date, and you probably (mostly) will GET even very hard criticism because people tend for “Listening to reply and NOT for understanding”!!

With ICT in EDUcation and while being (nearly) Up-To-Date with your Professional-Development while you have read the most important books about Modern-EDUcation from renowned researchers and by being online and using Social Media, especially Twitter, you certainly “feel” what MUST change to give OUR students, learners, BEST EDUcation. DO SO, I am pushing you if necessary, the world needs people with courage, motivation, engagement to bring Modern-EDUcation farther!!

And I am NOT talking about tools, Apps, THEY are ONLY facilitators; THE main so-called tool is YOU!!! YOU are modeling the statues (your learners, students) from a raw piece to a Master-Piece because of YOUR talents, knowledge, experience, Up-To-Date Professional-Development. It’s YOUR talent, like in arts, YOUR creativity who sparkles over to the learners, students with YOUR motivation, engagement, passion…

IF NO effort is brought in, NO results will come out!!

NOW, you know the secret ingredients (it’s like cooking…) and then comes the way of the How-To, there WE need to use ALSO Social Media, especially Twitter to connect with the students, learners!! Did I say connecting with students, learners on Twitter and learning together with the whole world; an OPEN place, NOT a closed classroom!!??? Sounds strange, isn’t it!??? Well, it isn’t strange at all, as it is PracTICE for the students, learners, to GET straight in to WHAT they will get used once in the workforce. It’s actually the BEST PracTICE they can get.

As on January 2018 I just have seen ONE Twitter-Chat (if you know another one, let me know please…) WHERE students, learners (average age 20 years old) were involved and it comes from Canada, the University of Ottawa, run by Pierre LEVY. Please check below some screenshots from the transcript of the Twitter-Chat:

Click image please to access the tweets

.

By following that Twitter-Chat one can see and analyze THE way HOW students are thinking by bringing in THEIR Critical-Thinking, that shows their learning instantly… AND, the students use as well the <===> Twitter Moments <===> to make THEIR reflection about their learning while collecting different tweets from different persons on the Twitter-Chat <===> #UOTM18 <===> and even creating blog posts about it to reflect their learning. The moments and the blogs are made outside the <===> #SchoolCocoon (school, university…) <===> and Pierre LEVY is using this practice since 3-4 years already.

[Gust MEES] I had also already created a blog post about “Reflection” in Twitter-Chats in June 2016: Update Twitter Chats: WHAT To DO BETTER!?

Start text from PJ CAPOSEY Making Education Meaningful

So, as I see it in we have two binary options – stay unfinished or be completely miserable. Let me explain, if we attempt to do the same things for kids in 2028 as we do today we will be woefully ineffective. Very rarely is someone who is ineffective at their job fulfilled by their job and happy in their professional life.

Okay, 2028 seems pretty far away. I challenge you to consider if it is really possible to make slight changes for eight years and then have a monumental shift in years nine and ten. Probably not. So, what’s the point?

The change in our world is constant. Our kids are different than they were ten years ago and will be vastly different ten years from now. Our communities are changing. Our world is fundamentally different and will continue to evolve. In education we must adjust to them and to our world (more importantly their world) or we are going to face becoming dangerously irrelevant.

So, as educators we have one choice. One option to stay relevant. One option to compete. One option to serve our kids with integrity. And perhaps most importantly, one option to be personally happy. That option is to stay unfinished. Embrace change. Love the grind. Have a deep, hard, introspective conversation with yourself that it is never going to be easier to be great at your job. And be okay with that realization.

And I hope – deep in my soul – that accepting the fact that it is never going to be easier energizes you. You were not put on this Earth to be average. None of us were. You have chosen to be a part of the best profession in the world. We have the opportunity to change lives every single day. It is an awesome responsibility, but an even more incredible opportunity.

NEW Words, Trends to Know and to LEARN about in 21st Century

programmerman-animatedAre YOU feeling overwhelmed with strange words, NEW trends, when you are reading and following posts, tweets, articles about/and in Social Media!? Well, I can understand YOU!!! There are SO MUCH, if I wouldn’t do curation, I wouldn’t understand it anymore as well, to be honest! 😉 Through my daily curation I see it and I read those articles, from WHERE I learn a lot as an autodidact. WHEN there are some words which I DON’T understand I am going MOSTLY to Wikipedia to find its explication and if NOT sufficient, I use GOOGLE and other online resources to know MORE about it!

For ME it’s THE BEST way (Curation) to learn and to stay up-to-date with my Professional Development! I tried out a lot of different ways after being online since 1998 and believe me, please, it’s the fastes way to keep it UP! 😉 Through Curation I build up my <===> PKM <===> Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management from where I can use it in ANY of my blogs, twitter posts and other Social Media to share it to people willing to learn.

Let us FIRST have a look about WHAT Curation and PKM is (first stuff to read and bring into PracTICE) before WE continue with THE strange words and trends later:

SO, let’s have a look on some (actually a lot…) NEW words and trends in EDUcation and WHO will influence EDUcation below, as THEY are actually running in Real-World, let us START first with the words:

Check also, please:

P.S.: The present words with NOT YET a link will get updated later, otherwise I wouldn’t finish this blog post! 😉

Dynamic Learning

Does your classroom offer one-and-done types of learning activities, or does the learning grow, inspire, and evolve throughout the year and beyond? With digital tools like G Suite for Education that are available 24/7, the learning doesn’t have to stop when the bell rings at the end of class, or when the worksheet is turned in, or even when the school year ends. The learning takes on a life of its own; it becomes dynamicThis concept alone should change the way you think about learning in general and change the way you facilitate learning in the classroom.

Through Curation, Social Media twitter and by building a PLN this is perfectly possible!

BTW : Did YOU actually realize that NOW it’s the PracTICE WHICH is dominating the Real-World before it EVEN is taught by EDUcation, a BIG CHANGE, isn’t it!!! Because of Entrepreneurship (bold actions…) the internet helped to CHANGE the world and flipped EDUcation to bring it MORE close to the needs of the workforce/Industry!!!

The NEW Pedagogy is MORE about the learners, students and to put THEM into the drivers seat; looking to find a Win-Win situation about THE How-To to GET THEM learning together in a team (EVEN outside the School-Cocoon with Social Media…) and to prepare THEM for the workforce/labor/industry by being able for <===> Learning-To-Learn <===> for a Life-Long Learning once out of school!

Getting ready for Modern-EDUcation: FIRST try to understand WHAT it is

Getting ready for Modern-EDUcation: FIRST try to understand WHAT it is

.

Evolution of Education: Wordle Logo

.

Modern-EDUcation: FIRST try to understand WHAT it is before taking the wrong path!

programmerman-animatedLet us be honest: EDUcation is far behind of WHAT it should be able to face the challenges of a modern world which is evolving quicker than WE can follow! Because of ICT everything is nearly possible: NEW professions are emerging through NEW ideas; Entrepreneurship is one of the biggest evolving one. One can’t count anymore the possibilities, nor predict WHAT will be next professions! SO, WHAT does this mean for EDUcation!?

EDUcation can’t follow, nor adapt THAT quickly, without talking about the minds behind WHO don’t want to change as well!!! SO, is there any possibility for students, learners, THEY could be benefiting with and/for an Up-To-Date knowledge!? YES, there is a solution: students and learners should get taught about <===> LEARNing-To-LEARN <===> so that they would be able for <===> Life-Long LEARNing, this is THE BEST way to look for a <===> Long-Term solution <===> as one can’t get ALL the necessary knowledge anymore in schools!!

Please read:

WE should go on <===> Proactive THINKing <===> to adjust this well known situation and to adapt by teaching the students learners the way of <===> Learning-To-Learn <===> and to encourage them to become autodidacts, self-directed learners! That’s THE BEST way for them to stay <===> Up-To-Date <===> and that’s WHAT is counting in a modern and ever growing society! The workforce/industry needs this to be competitive!

FIRST of all WE need to know WHAT are the skills students need to have

.

what-skills-will-you-need-to-succeed-in-the-future_5061e259a60b6_w587

.

There is a Windows dominance on the market!!! SO, don’t use ONLY Apple products in your school, BUT make for sure that YOUR LEARNers, Students will know and have the skills to work on that “OS”; of course you might use as well iPads! BUT make sure that there is a mix of different “OS” anyway. As educational persons WE have a BIG Responsibility to prepare OUR Students, LEARNers for the future! NO Cherry-Picking allowed!!! NO preferences for #AnyOS #AnyDevice!!! A mixture of THEM YES, orientated about WHAT “OS” is leading the market.

How can EDUcators TEACHers and EDU understand WHAT Modern EDU is!?

change-gartner-2016Well, there are some really good books which will help EDUcators TEACHers to understand WHAT Modern-EDU and NEW pedagogy is to be prepared for THE CHANGE; YES it is a BIG CHANGE which might not be easy for lots as THE role of the EDUcators TEACHers will change; NOT having anymore the control, the power, of a classroom BUT being a coach WHO is trying to get a win-win situation TOGETHER with the learners, students. Personally I think that fearing to lose the control and power is the common point for most educating persons for NOT adapting to Modern-EDU!

BUT, THAT is wrong! You will get even more recognized and respected WHEN you play the coach role; my experience over ten (10) years. Put the students in the drivers seat, let them teach also and learn also from them 😉

SO, read FIRST my selection of books, which helped ME to understand about Modern-EDU and where that acquired knowledge led me, please:

.

MUST READ BOOKS

.

For BEST understanding I recommend to YOU to start first with “5 Minds for the Future“, followed by “FOUR-DIMENSIONAL EDUCATION” and then “The App Generation“.

If YOU are multilingual (English, French, German), you might read as well my books selection which I have read and which helped me a lot:

.

Check about WHAT the book “5 Minds for the Future” is:

.

Synthesizing Mind-5 Minds for the future

.

Linear learning was YESTERDAY; imagine learning <===> time, too long to catch up when only A, then B, Then C… Check AGAIN the PIC above, please 😉

Time is ALSO a very IMPORTANT part of Modern-EDU to adjust for quicker learning WHEN knowing about “TEAM-TEACHing“, called ALSO “Co-TEACHing” and the How-To about making learning really meaningful and professional, check below, please:

.

What are the barriers to overcome for that THE CHANGE happens? Obstacles to make the next steps to Modern-EDU

.

1ibdy1vf6wghd-n05dgl-aigainformation1Without a lot of talking myself, I invite you to read the following articles which explain  at its BEST:

.

Quote from [https://twitter.com/kimgarst] “If you don’t leave your past in the past, it WILL destroy your future. Live for what today has to offer, not for what yesterday has taken away.

You have to fight against OTHERS who are NOT wanting THE CHANGE, the “StatusQuo” advocates, make curation WHERE you will curate the necessary arguments to convince and/or beat them with their OWN arguments!!

.

.

Listening, very important:

.

How to become GREAT Teachers, EDUcators which understand about Modern-EDU?

mediocrity-reward-nice-talking.

There are TOO MANY average (Mediocrity) EDUcators TEACHers around, Students and LEARNers need BETTER!!! Educational persons SHOULD read the below curated articles and finding out on WHAT they have to improve, please 😉

Coaches and/or mentors are a MUST

programmerman-animatedAs already mentioned in my first phrases of this blog post, with normal training for “Professional Development”, YOU can’t catch UP quickly enough!! SO, are there different ways? YES, by using Social Media, especially Twitter YOU can create a #PLN, a “Personal [Professional] Learning Network” from where YOU can learn already together, even ALSO by using Twitter Chats.

Learn more:

BUT there is ALSO another way: using blogs! Sounds strange? Well, with “WordPress” this is possible as YOU can invite co-authors on the same blog post and coaching over Twitter with “DM” (Direct Messages, called ALSO Private Messages) YOUR co-authors. I do this already since 2007-2008, started it on “Google Knol”, who was discontinued on May 1, 2012 where  I was one of the Knol-TOP10-English authors and also Author-of-the-Week in November 2009 with more than 1.4 millions of visits. “Google Knol” is one of LOTS of OTHER products from Google WHO are on the “Google Grave Yard“!

.

Gust MEES-Knol-Author-Of-The-Week-2009

.

Later I started blogging on WordPress and as I missed it working together with OTHERS, I did my coaching with EDUcators, TEACHers from different countries by inviting THEM to become co-authors on some of my blog posts. I was the editor and THEY were the co-authors, meaning they had a bit restrictions ONLY on WHAT to do with the main blog. SO, THEY learned about the How-To to use blogs (WordPress) through my coaching and ALSO about THE TOPIC WE were writing about; the coaching was done through Twitter “DM’s”; WE used blogs AND Twitter!

I did a LOT of those “Global-Collaboration” on blogging with different co-authors and I encourage everybody to do the same as it is a GREAT experience as one learns from each other 😉

Tips for using WordPress:

WHAT could be done different while using ICT and NEW Pedagogy

programmerman2.

Well, that is a question I get asked very often; it is actually NOT that difficult, it just needs to understand WHAT Modern-EDU is and WHAT are THE tools (NO, NO, NOT Apps…, THEY are ONLY facilitators) WE can use to give OUR Students, LEARNers the necessary skills to survive in an ever changing world.

.

Check below, please:

Check out my Learning-Path with ICT Practice to get the idea about it, please:

SO many information, THE letter “I” in ICT, I can’t follow anymore!! Well, I can understand YOU, BUT there is a solution for it! 😉 Through curation and Social-Media (by creating a PLN on Twitter…) YOU can create a <===> Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management (PKM), check my blog post below please: PKM – Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management:

And WHAT Is About Creativity!?

Let us start with a video from <===> Sir Ken ROBINSON <===>, please listen to it. Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity.

.

.

There is actually a BIG move to creativity in EDUcation worldwide, e.g. <===> THE Maker-Movement; please check below for more information:

.

WHAT will influence EDUcation in the future!?

Is there something which one can predict, without being a wizard!? YES; for sure as persons WHO read constantly on each day WHAT is NEW on technology and science as well as research papers one can say this, see below, please:

Curation: The 21st Century Way To Learn On Its Own Pace And To Organize THE Learning?

Already since 2011 I use Curation for my learning and through it I built my “Professional Knowledge Management“, called also PKM. But WHAT is Curation?

5-Steps-for-Content-CurationFirst I was wondering about this new trend and was not sure what to do with it, but after some research on Internet about it I found out that curation to me is the best way to collect articles which I select through quality criteria, which I can archive under different topics and which I find easily back through the “Tags”, as the “Tags” play the role of a table of content. For a Life-Long-Learner like me curation is like a treasure of knowledge and information that is getting shared through the online community.

Through curation one has the possibility to FREE online learning and through sharing it on Social Media to create a community with the same interests. This community is called a “PLN” (Personal [Professional] Learning Network).

Curation could also save people of same interests a lot of time and provides them with valuable content which could get used to link back to them in written articles, blogs, web sites and social media sites. Also one learns from each other in the curation community as one has the possibility to follow interesting curation.

As an ICT course instructor most of my curation is related to educational content and so I provide the curate content to an educational audience and to people who are willing to learn. Therefore I see curation also as help for a collective global learning and a contribution to a collective intelligence.

Read the full article here:

BUT, WHY and HOW do I use Curation for my PKM (Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management)?

Content Curation gives me the freedom to OWN my learning, through well chosen sources on the internet, and by giving them the right “Tags” it allows me to find the sources easily back later. BUT first of all I read the articles before I curate them, so I learn through the reading and as more often I do this as BETTER my brain gets trained to understand very quickly!

.

Learn more:

Curation itself is nothing new, since 1998 I used the same system already with Word documents (in my documents I used keywords at that time…) to create my own learning; curation platforms although have a nice user interface, integrated Social Media sharing options and a possibility for “Tags” creation, as also included statistics!

To me, Curation together with Social Media (especially twitter) and blogging is THE BEST way to learn and ALSO for teaching online!

Synthesizing Mind-5 Minds for the future

Through THESE daily routines I learn very quick!!

WHAT is Curation And What Is NOT Curation?

.

go through worse to get to better

.

.

Most of people know WHAT “Aggregation” is, it is the simplest way to share links, YOU just forward it! BUT that is NOT “Curation“, most people didn’t YET understood this and using “Curation Services” as platforms for ONLY sharing links! That is a lazy attitude, sorry to say this!!!

Curation needs a bit effort and people, especially Educators and Teachers, need to take THEIR time to evaluate the found information by giving it THEIR insight(s) to share with OTHERS! This is very IMPORTANT, as the human can so give BETTER results as a search engine (Google, Yahoo, and others…) as the proposed results are human based, reviewed links and articles.

.

SO… Knowing NOW what Curation is NOT, let us find out WHAT CURATION IS, please check the image below, who explains it BEST.

1ibdy1vf6wghd-n05dgl-aigainformation1First of all, please check the FAQ’s from Scoop.it itself to find out the basics of using Scoop.it here:

A question I am getting asked very often: WHY SHOULD WE trust YOU!? Well, that is a good question and it deserves ALSO an answer. Let me brag a little bit (sorry), a MUST to explain WHY: I started with Curation on Scoop.it on ===> waiting 2 find out <=== and I got honored as ===> Lord Of Curation <=== as well as I got awarded by a ===> Rewarded PRO account <=== from Scoop.it. I hope that this will give YOU some trust on what I am posting here 😉 Check below, please to find out:

BUT, let us go NOW for the essential, HOW can WE do BEST Curation?

Well, it is actually NOT that difficult at all, BUT WE need to invest a bit of work 😉 With a lazy bone attitude WE will not come far, sorry. Good results need ALSO good preparation as well!

To do this, WE need first to understand (as mentioned already above) that WE have to give OUR insight when curating an article, thus meaning: WE need to read the article and to build OUR OWN view about it first, then curating the article and ALSO to publish OUR insight about it! Check below on practical examples, please.

Screenshots in English and in French about GREAT “Insights” from members of my “PLN” (Personal [Professional! Learning Network) to show YOU some practical examples which are worth to copy (the way how they did, not the text…) 😉

I will give you some visual examples below who show you, so you can have a direct impression of it. No need to talk too much (what most of the teachers and educators do, sorry…), we go straight to the point…

.

Curation insight-1

As you can see in the above screenshot, there is some text and also some links linking to similar content… The above screenshot is taken from ===> http://www.scoop.it/t/securite-pc-et-internet?q=Why+%28And+How%29+Teachers

.

.

BUT the above shown isn’t YET enough! HOW will YOU find back later ALL YOUR curated articles and/or when YOU use the search engine in Scoop.it, HOW will YOU find other interesting curated articles? YOU need to index YOUR curated articles and this is done by the so called “Tags“.

The Tags And Their Importance

Let us first check about WHAT Scoop.it itself tells us about the “Tags“, check image and link below, please.

.

.

WE will look at some OTHER practical examples below as well.

Once built up some topics with your curation, you have already some articles curated under the same “Tags

What are “Tags“?

.

Tags in Scoop.it

.

In the above screenshot you can see used “Tags” from our example from http://www.scoop.it/t/securite-pc-et-internet?q=Why+%28And+How%29+Teachers. You will remark that there are a lot, and that should be as you will better find back the curated article, as well as there will be a better ranking in the search-engines…

.

Learn more about the “Tags” from Scoop.it here:

.

Having created your “Tags” on ALL your curated articles you are able NOW ALSO to post Tweets on Twitter with a specific “Tag”, see example here:

===> #Update YOUR #knowledge and/or get ready 4 #learning about ===> #Curation <=== Check ===> http://www.scoop.it/t/21st-century-learning-and-teaching/?tag=Curation

Re-Scoops And Their Importance

SO… WE were talking a lot already about the so called “Tags” in above mentioned content, BUT WE are coming back again to THEM, sorry 😉 Scoop.it allows it to “Re-Scoop” a curated article, thus meaning: taking over a curated article from somebody else curation to YOUR own curation, which is actually very easy to do with ONLY two (2) clicks. YOU might see on Social-Media Twitter people who are sharing a curation and that one could fit YOUR interests as well as YOU would like to have it ALSO in YOUR curation TOPICS, BUT HOW-TO do: check screenshots below, please.

.

Re-Scooping-1

.

Click on that proposed link then and wait till the curated article on Scoop.it appears. NOW click on the green buttonScoop.it!” as shown in above screenshot.

YOU will get directed NOW to YOUR own Scoop.it account and YOU could chose onto which TOPIC YOU would like to save it, as shown in below screenshot. Make YOUR choice and save it.

Check out ALSO the video about it below, please:

NOW comes the moment of truth, did the curator from whom YOU made the re-scoop brought in the “Tags“? YOU will see this by ===> check screenshot below, please.

.

Tags_in_Scoop.it

.

As the MOST of people who make curation didn’t really understand the importance of TAGS, YOU probably will see this case empty or not really well used. The above screenshot is from my own curation and shows a lot of TAGS, as it should be. Let me explain a bit about WHY:

As I am multilingual, so I curate in English, French and German, that’s why YOU see also the “Tag” => English <= which I use when the curated article is in “English”. If the article is in French, I will “Tag” it with => Français <= and when it is in German, I will “Tag” it with => Deutsch <=. So I can find back easily my articles by category (Tags). The same for the other “Tags”, YOU need to chose them very wisely, as they will be a great help for later when YOU want to share multiple articles under ONLY one “Tag”, check example below, please:

.

TOPICS: articles regrouping with Tags

Check out ===> http://www.scoop.it/t/securite-pc-et-internet/?tag=country <===

.

Click the image above to find a practical example on How-To use the “Tags” to regroup different articles into ONLY one “keyword“. This is very IMPORTANT when YOU want to share those curated articles on Social-Media, like Twitter. Here below one example which I used on Twitter, see screenshot, please.

.

Using regrouping-Tags on Twitter

.

As YOU might see, I used the same link as in OUR mentioned example above. YOU can EVEN use Twitter then to ask YOUR Learners and Students above a chosen TOPIC, like I did 😉 And the right answer came straight, thanks 🙂 This is then ALSO a NEW possibility to propose to YOUR Learners and Students where YOU propose THEM lots of different articles regrouped under ONLY one “Tag”, BUT being part of a certain TOPIC… Start NOW for ===> Deep-THINKing <=== on How-To YOU can use it in YOUR courses 😉

PKM-Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management

By going into ===> Deep-THINKing <=== YOU might have found already that the right use of the “Tags” gives us ALSO another positive side affect, WE can use Curation combined with well organized and thought “Tags” as OUR ===> PKM <===!

WE will NOT discuss here,as I created already a blog post about it. Please check below:

.

Keywords for me to realize this blog post: Curation, Scoop.it, FAQ’s, Tutorial in depth, Tags, rescooping, SEO, NOT aggregation but Curation => difference <=, insights, PKM, importance of PKM, sharing Responsibility, sharing QUALITY, related links, investing first time to save time later ==> PKM <===…

.

Stay tuned for next blog post(s) 😉
