WHAT gifts to buy for the kids for Xmas and Holidays?
Every year the same question, isn’t it!? WHY not thinking about to buy gifts from where and with that the kids will learn? It might be good to have a look on WHAT are the skills required for the future from youth, students, learners and upon that making your choice! Actually (2017) the trends are in the maker scene and coding scene! Engineers, coding people and ICT specialists are needed, the workforce, industry is searching!!
What is the maker scene?
I invite you to read my bog post about it below, please:
In the Makerspaces as well as in Maker-EDUcation the creativity and PracTICE are getting fostered to be prepared for what the workforce and the industry are needing! The kids, students, learners are Learning-By-Doing and that is with fun involved also! They are not only tinkering around but they get coached in a “NO Hierarchy” space; in Luxembourg. SO, they can communicate with each other to solve problems and as well later also doing the same through the Social-Media and forums. They learn also by that way to build teams and are able for team-work later once out of school.
.
Team-Work is one of the essential skills which students, learners need to have for the future! Read also my blog post below, please, which explains WHAT the skills for the future are:
In the above blog posts you will find information what is happening and you can contact the responsible persons for more information; let your kids go there and have fun by LEARNing-By-Doing! 😉
What is the coding scene?
Coding is the 21st Century skill. Coding enhances creativity, teaches young people to cooperate, to work together across physical and geographical boundaries and to communicate in a universal language. Technology is part of our life, and coding brings it closer to you!

It is the first time that I visited the “Science Festival” in Luxembourg-City, although it is already on its 11th Edition. The first edition was run when Luxembourg-City was Europe’s cultural capital in 1995. This year there was a BIG press coverage and advertising about it so that I decided to go visiting it! I didn’t regret it and I will visit it again, hopefully next year it will not rain again!
Luxembourg needs more people in Science, ICT, Research and through such festivals it tries to use the curiosity of youth to make them sensible to maybe direct them to study in these fields. It was a BIG success as far as I can say, last year they had about 12.000 visitors and more expected for this year. I saw a lot of youth sitting in the different ateliers, workshops to tinker around with lot of interest and motivation. I got told that there were even some kids visiting the place for the second day (Saturday and Sunday, it was open for the public) together with their father and that they spent about four (4) hours, that’s what I call passion! Looks like that there will be some future scientist growing!

Welcome to the official game of the 2017 FIRST Global Challenge, H2O FLOW! In H2O FLOW, teams learn about real-world water scarcity and contamination issues. In the game, two villages exist on either side of a contaminated river. The villagers compete to create and store purified water in their respective reserves. In a laboratory up stream, the villagers come together to research the contaminants and ultimately create a purification system so contaminants are removed before they reach the villages, thus providing clean water for all. In the end, each village prepares for the coming flood by searching for higher ground.
Match is 2:30 minutes long and six (6) teams are competing where one team (3 countries) is called “Aqua Team” and the other one (3 countries) is called “Hydro Team“.
.
Best is to watch the video below, who explains in detail:
Team Luxembourg finished 61 out of 163 teams (157 nations)!
[Ronny OSWEILER]After plenty hours of hard work, Team Luxembourg has been awarded the “Certificate of Excellence” that recognizes professional achievement, advanced education, commitment to STEM, time management and superior performance during the competition.
Congratulations to all students!
Team Luxembourg could have been 48th, if in game 5, we would have done the climbing, but due to technical reasons the robot was stuck. Those 20 points would have been important.
[Gust MEES] We will discuss this in the section “Incident in round five for Team Luxembourg“, below!

Incident in round five for Team Luxembourg
[Ronny OSWEILER] In round five, the robot of Team Canada touched our robot and disconnected our battery cable. We were unable to move for the rest of the match and lost a lot of potential points in that way. As one can see in the video, we had collected a lot of blue balls which could have been scored. Also it was impossible to climb the bar at the end of the match. .
[Gust MEES] How did Team Canada react after WHAT happend!??
[Ronny OSWEILER] They apologized for what happened. It was not their intention, as they were allied to us during that match.
Video from LAM-Code Club where one can see exactly WHAT happend, check below please (at approximately 1 min 11):
.
.
.
The preparation before the tournament
[Gust MEES]1) How did it start; did YOU get an invitation to participate?
[Ronny OSWEILER]The teachers at the LAM got offered the project of forming a team to represent Luxembourg by SCRIPT. We only got to know about the project very late, so time was of the essence. We had to gather a group of students within two days. As Annabel is currently studying science of education and is also interested in technology, I asked her to join me in mentoring the team.
[Gust MEES]2) WHEN did YOU start the preparations?
[Annabel SCHOELLEN] The preparations started at the end of march, when we had to gather all necessary information about the students, as well as ensure everyone has got a passport to travel to the United States. Then we had to wait for the robot, which arrived after the Easter holidays. From that moment onward, we started brainstorming on the robot to build, and prototype our ideas.
[Gust MEES]3) WHO were the responsible persons for the “Team Luxembourg”?
[Ronny OSWEILER] The main people that mentored the students while building the robot were Ronny Osweiler (teacher at LAM) , Micael Leal (teacher at LAM) and Annabel Schoellen (student in Science of Education). But the project could only be realized with the organizational help of Christian Boudot and Fabrice Roth, both teachers at LAM, as well as the direction of the LAM.
[Gust MEES]4) From WHICH schools did the students come from?
[Ronny OSWEILER]As the time for the prepartions was very limited, it was not possible to organize a national qualification contest. We took some of our most talented students, as well as some students from other schools. The students were: Laura Märker (LAM), Yannick Martins Dos Santos (LAM), Pit Baum (LAM), Kimon Leners (LAM), Lina Chen (LAM), Atreyam Sharma (École Européenne), Shawn Teusch (LGL). Pit Baum was the captain of the team.
[Gust MEES]5) Did the students travel and participate for FREE, OR did THEY have to pay a participation!?
[Annabel SCHOELLEN] The students had to pay no money for the participation at the project, otherwise I think that this could have been a barrier for potentially brilliant minds. Education and the development of technological and social skills should always be accessible for everyone. This was only possible because of our generous sponsors.
.
[Gust MEES] 6) What was the motto of the team?
.
.
[Ronny OSWEILER] For us, the team was a representation of the diversity of Luxembourg. We had 7 students with 5 different nationalities (Luxembourgish, French, German, Portuguese and Indian) . This was the reason that we took the slogan “A team as diverse as its country“. We wanted to show the other nations in Washington the acceptance and diversity that Luxembourg has to offer.
[Gust MEES] To understand the above, one must know that in Luxembourg the part of the population without Luxembourg nationality is close to 48%.
[Gust MEES] Update (25-07-2017): MarcTEUSCHand Madhumaltiwere supporting during their Washington stay! Marc was present because his son is in “TeamLuxembourg” and I made already an interview with him here:
The team got contacted by the Luxembourgish Embassy in Washington, and even got a visit from the Consul Stan Myck at their booth in the DAR Constitution Hall and by Franz Schilling during the opening ceremony. The team was also invited to visit the Embassy and was welcomed by the H.E. Ambassador Sylvie Lucas, who showed them the whole embassy and gave them historical background information about the presence of Luxembourg in Washington..
Strange things were happening, “Team BURUNDI” disappeared!
After taking part in an international robotics competition in Washington DC, six Burundi teenagers have been reported missing. Two of the students were seen leaving the US for Canada.
A police spokesperson said authorities “do not have any indication of foul play” as the investigation continues into what happened after the group attended the FIRST Global Challenge robotics competition with students from 157 nations.
Four of the teenagers seem to be in a safe place, but police are not reporting any details as yet, according to the Washington Post.
WHAT Luxembourg EDUcation is doing for creativity by using Maker-Spaces in MakerED
.
.
Luxembourg is investing in the future by using ModernEDU with and about ICT, as well based on CREATIVITY, since the launch of <===> Digital Lëtzebuerg<===> Check links below, please (my interviews included):
From the above mentioned NON-PROFIT organizations emerged people WHO NOW are the main leaders in the field of MakerED in Luxembourg 😉

A <===> Makerfest <===> was organized at Lycée Technique ESCH/ALZETTE on 04-07-2017. Over 1.000 persons, apparently 2.000 expected, were present on the second Makerfest at LTESCH(Luxembourg), organized by BEECREATIVE, Service National de la Jeunesse, SCRIPT. Lots of different schools from around the country were present with their students (learners) from any age! As presenters of THEIR MakerSpaces and/or as visitors to take part in the many offered “ateliers”. From 3D Printing, Laser cutting, Green Screen video recordings, Fidget-Spinners making (THAT was THE HIT!), coding with Scratch, LEGO MINDSTORMS and NOT to forget <===> KNIWWELINO <===> a NEW project created by LIST (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology) who was specially developed to meet the needs of coding for youth! It was a pleasure to see with HOW MANY fun the kids and teens were “making” and LEARNing 😉 IF THAT isn’t the future, WHAT else! 😉 I wish I would be that young again to visit such schools 😉

Modern-EDUcation: FIRST try to understand WHAT it is before taking the wrong path!
Let us be honest: EDUcation is far behind of WHAT it should be able to face the challenges of a modern world which is evolving quicker than WE can follow! Because of ICT everything is nearly possible: NEW professions are emerging through NEW ideas; Entrepreneurship is one of the biggest evolving one. One can’t count anymore the possibilities, nor predict WHAT will be next professions! SO, WHAT does this mean for EDUcation!?
EDUcation can’t follow, nor adapt THAT quickly, without talking about the minds behind WHO don’t want to change as well!!! SO, is there any possibility for students, learners, THEY could be benefiting with and/for an Up-To-Date knowledge!? YES, there is a solution: students and learners should get taught about <===> LEARNing-To-LEARN <===> so that they would be able for <===> Life-Long LEARNing, this is THE BEST way to look for a <===> Long-Term solution <===> as one can’t get ALL the necessary knowledge anymore in schools!!
WE should go on <===> Proactive THINKing <===> to adjust this well known situation and to adapt by teaching the students learners the way of <===> Learning-To-Learn <===> and to encourage them to become autodidacts, self-directed learners! That’s THE BEST way for them to stay <===> Up-To-Date <===> and that’s WHAT is counting in a modern and ever growing society! The workforce/industry needs this to be competitive!
FIRST of all WE need to know WHAT are the skills students need to have
.
.
There is a Windows dominance on the market!!! SO, don’t use ONLY Apple products in your school, BUT make for sure that YOUR LEARNers, Students will know and have the skills to work on that “OS”; of course you might use as well iPads! BUT make sure that there is a mix of different “OS” anyway. As educational persons WE have a BIG Responsibility to prepare OUR Students, LEARNers for the future! NO Cherry-Picking allowed!!! NO preferences for #AnyOS#AnyDevice!!! A mixture of THEM YES, orientated about WHAT “OS” is leading the market.
How can EDUcators TEACHers and EDU understand WHAT Modern EDU is!?
Well, there are some really good books which will help EDUcators TEACHers to understand WHAT Modern-EDU and NEW pedagogy is to be prepared for THE CHANGE; YES it is a BIG CHANGE which might not be easy for lots as THE role of the EDUcators TEACHers will change; NOT having anymore the control, the power, of a classroom BUT being a coach WHO is trying to get a win-win situation TOGETHER with the learners, students. Personally I think that fearing to lose the control and power is the common point for most educating persons for NOT adapting to Modern-EDU!
BUT, THAT is wrong! You will get even more recognized and respected WHEN you play the coach role; my experience over ten (10) years. Put the students in the drivers seat, let them teach also and learn also from them 😉
SO, read FIRST my selection of books, which helped ME to understand about Modern-EDU and where that acquired knowledge led me, please:
.
.
For BEST understanding I recommend to YOU to start first with “5 Minds for the Future“, followed by “FOUR-DIMENSIONAL EDUCATION” and then “The App Generation“.
If YOU are multilingual (English, French, German), you might read as well my books selection which I have read and which helped me a lot:
Check about WHAT the book “5 Minds for the Future” is:
.
.
Linear learning was YESTERDAY; imagine learning <===> time, too long to catch up when only A, then B, Then C… Check AGAIN the PIC above, please 😉
Time is ALSO a very IMPORTANT part of Modern-EDU to adjust for quicker learning WHEN knowing about “TEAM-TEACHing“, called ALSO “Co-TEACHing” and the How-To about making learning really meaningful and professional, check below, please:
Quote from [https://twitter.com/kimgarst] “If you don’t leave your past in the past, it WILL destroy your future. Live for what today has to offer, not for what yesterday has taken away.
You have to fight against OTHERS who are NOT wanting THE CHANGE, the “StatusQuo” advocates, make curation WHERE you will curate the necessary arguments to convince and/or beat them with their OWN arguments!!
How to become GREAT Teachers, EDUcators which understand about Modern-EDU?
.
There are TOO MANY average (Mediocrity) EDUcators TEACHers around, Students and LEARNers need BETTER!!! Educational persons SHOULD read the below curated articles and finding out on WHAT they have to improve, please 😉
As already mentioned in my first phrases of this blog post, with normal training for “Professional Development”, YOU can’t catch UP quickly enough!! SO, are there different ways? YES, by using Social Media, especially Twitter YOU can create a #PLN, a “Personal [Professional] Learning Network” from where YOU can learn already together, even ALSO by using Twitter Chats.
BUT there is ALSO another way: using blogs! Sounds strange? Well, with “WordPress” this is possible as YOU can invite co-authors on the same blog post and coaching over Twitter with “DM” (Direct Messages, called ALSO Private Messages) YOUR co-authors. I do this already since 2007-2008, started it on “Google Knol”, who was discontinued on May 1, 2012 where I was one of the Knol-TOP10-English authors and also Author-of-the-Week in November 2009 with more than 1.4 millions of visits. “Google Knol” is one of LOTS of OTHER products from Google WHO are on the “Google Grave Yard“!
.
.
Later I started blogging on WordPress and as I missed it working together with OTHERS, I did my coaching with EDUcators, TEACHers from different countries by inviting THEM to become co-authors on some of my blog posts. I was the editor and THEY were the co-authors, meaning they had a bit restrictions ONLY on WHAT to do with the main blog. SO, THEY learned about the How-To to use blogs (WordPress) through my coaching and ALSO about THE TOPIC WE were writing about; the coaching was done through Twitter “DM’s”; WE used blogs AND Twitter!
I did a LOT of those “Global-Collaboration” on blogging with different co-authors and I encourage everybody to do the same as it is a GREAT experience as one learns from each other 😉
WHAT could be done different while using ICT and NEW Pedagogy
.
Well, that is a question I get asked very often; it is actually NOT that difficult, it just needs to understand WHAT Modern-EDU is and WHAT are THE tools (NO, NO, NOT Apps…, THEY are ONLY facilitators) WE can use to give OUR Students, LEARNers the necessary skills to survive in an ever changing world.
SO many information, THE letter “I” in ICT, I can’t follow anymore!! Well, I can understand YOU, BUT there is a solution for it! 😉 Through curation and Social-Media (by creating a PLN on Twitter…) YOU can create a <===> Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management (PKM), check my blog post below please: PKM – Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management:
Let us start with a video from <===> Sir Ken ROBINSON <===>, please listen to it. Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity.
.
.
There is actually a BIG move to creativity in EDUcation worldwide, e.g. <===> THE Maker-Movement; please check below for more information:
Is there something which one can predict, without being a wizard!? YES; for sure as persons WHO read constantly on each day WHAT is NEW on technology and science as well as research papers one can say this, see below, please:

Through ICT the Real-World and especially the Virtual-World (both are influencing each other…) are changing quicker then WE can learn about, BUT WE must adapt to it and so must EDUcation! Therefore Universities must do research about the How-To to adapt and teaching about it… Luxembourg, a small country in Europe is doing so in September 2016, read more:
Luxembourg has already a “strategy to promote media literacy” as I got told in an interview, see image below please and click on the image to access the article.

Click the image please to access the article.

There is ALSO Finland WHO made a radical change to its EDUcation-Sytem, check below please: Finland uses <===> Phenomenon based learning
Meanwhile, before research finishes its studies, WE can already have a look on WHAT is NEW in Technology and WHAT probably would be of interest for EDUcation, as well as NEW Pedagogy Theories and NEW Trends:
Because of the internet and Social Media there is NOW ALSO a new way of learning through collaboration, Global Collaboration, Peer-To-Peer Learning, mentoring, coaching:
WHEN WE talk about “Entrepreneurship“, then WE MUST ALSO talking about “Blockchain and Bitcoin” as THEY are a Game-Changer in the future, check below please:
AND as WE are using ICT: internet with iPad, tablet, smartphones, laptops, PCs, Macs, small computers such as Arduino,Raspberry PI and Co, the “Internet of Things” WE MUST ALSO have basics knowledge of “CyberSecurity“, check below please:
MY experience described in ONLY some phrases: Give the LEARNers, students (whatever age) the freedom of LEARNing without squeezing THEM into a FRAME and concentrate on guiding them as a coach by analyzing THEIR behavior and show them the How-To to become self-directed learners, autodidacts. SHOW THEM ALSO up from the beginning WHAT THE <===> LEARNing Path <===> will be with design of it and explain THEM that they could design themselves it with a short introduction on the How-To. THEY will learn the ICT-PracTICE which will help them once out of the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> to be ready for Life-Long LEARNing and to be able to adapt very quickly in the workforce! WHEN YOU show the LEARNers, students <===> WHAT the profit is for THEIR private life <===> YOU will engage them very quickly 😉 AND DON’T teach THEM more as necessary, propose them some links to go further ONLY for those who want!!
.
WHAT’S my message and WHY did I create this blog post!?
Well, I will encourage all youth and also adults, seniors, oldies to become <===>Life-Long LEARNers <===> and staying Up-To-Date with their knowledge, especially concerning their skills in ICT, called NOW <===> #eSkills <===>! In the modern world YOU will change YOUR job probably +/- 12 times in YOUR working career, it is very rare to stay life-long in the same job and/or same company!!! SO… The workforce is looking for people with ICT skills which YOU mostly didn’t learn at school, right!?
YOU won’t have (mostly) the time to learn by visiting courses, right!? START to become Life-Long LEARNers by LEARNing on YOUR OWN pace, by becoming <===> Autodidacts <===> Self-Directed LEARNers. YOU are able to, I did it, so can YOU!? 😉
I found a job because of my ICT eSkills and I am STILL LEARNing on a daily base routine for being Up-To Date with my <===> Professional Development <===>, even being retired NOW! THE pleasure of LEARNing!
I did THE <===> ICT PracTICE <===> and THAT’S WHAT the workforce needs!!!
Due to my eSkills I could share my knowledge AND expertise ALSO with the below mentioned as well as to a broad range of visitors from around the globe!
AND check my profile below as well, at the bottom of this blog post please! 😉

As on April 11th 2016 I had an interview with M. Serge LINCKELS from the Ministry of EDUcation in Luxembourg (SCRIPT) on the site of « eduPôle », the building from the Ministry of EDUcation regrouping different services such as :
I hereby thank a lot M. Serge LINCKELS for the heartily welcome and ALL the possible information which he was allowed to share with me. The interview was about 1h:10 minutes, positively surprised about to have that much opportunity, thank You M. LINCKELS 😉 WE were ALSO talking a bit about my past, the WHAT I did in EDUcation to know BETTER each other… Well, that was at least one educator, teacher WHO was able to listen, a quality which MOST people have forgotten! He was ALSO SO friendly to give me the necessary contact information for questions which are NOT in his resorts, OTHER hierarchy…
Well, THAT ISN’T a problem (there are ONLY solutions anyway…), and I am feeling VERY HAPPY about that one of my major questions was answered very positively. It is about inviting OTHER educators, teachers for visiting Luxembourg to find out about the “LUX-EDU-System“! YES, it is possible, WE will discuss it in the question section 😉
Concerning the questions and answers WE will use initials such as:
[GM] for Gust MEES
[SL] for Serge LINCKELS

Concerning the Lux-EDU-System: Is there an infographic available which explains visually?
[SL] M. LINCKELS showed me the following links and gave me also the name of another contact person to find out if there is anything available for the public (there is a lot of internal stuff which is NOT available for the public…):
[GM] I got an very quick answer (in 3 hours time) per eMail from the contacted person, M. Michel LANNERS:
.
SCRIPT is among other missions in charge of developing pedagogical content in the IT area whereas the mission of CGIE is to assure the hardware support and to finance the equipment of the hardware but also to enable the connectivity solutions. Both departments cooperate intensively.
[GM] Update, interview with PAPERJAM on 29-09-2016:
[SL] M. LINCKELS gave me the name of a contact person from the “University of Luxembourg“, which I will contact for further information…
[GM] Does the “Lux-EDU-System” ALSO include the communication with parents?
[SL]There are parent meetings and some schools are using ALSO Apps to communicate with the parents, else the communication from EDU is organized through SMS and eMail.
[GM] Is it possible for some of my followers fromTwitter, who are Educators, Teachers from France and Germany to visit You for discovering about the NEW “Lux-EDU-System”?
[SL] YES, as long as You don’t bring me a whole train in 😉 [GM] A bit humor was possible also 🙂
Check ALSO the video below please from the official opening of <===> eduSphere. It’s in Luxembourgish and German.

The Luxembourg Education introduces up from September 2017 a NEW school system approach for LEARNing about ICT, sciences and mathematics, called “FutureHUB”.
[GM] The interview happened at 15h:00 (03:00 pm) and finished by 16h:10 (04:10 pm), 1h:10 minutes which was very constructive and pleasant. I got a lot of other information which I will use in other blog posts and interviews; foreseen are:
Technology in EDUcation
THE NEW Pedagogy
Professional Development for Teachers, BTW: In “Lux-EDU-System” it is called “Teacher Training”.

.
I hear most screaming ALREADY, WE are ONLY on EDUcation 1.0, or EDUcation 2.0 and starting to LEARN; EDUcation 3.0 is foreseen in the next years!!! Give us the time to LEARN!!! Well, WE are ALREADY on EDUcation 4.0, did YOU know THAT!? SO… it might be GOOD to START learning straight off NOW about EDUcation 4.0 as the LOWER versions (EDUcation 3.0) are ALREADY included, isn’t it!?
.
.
.
.
Some Reminders First!
.
The above mentioned quote from “Albert EINSTEIN” SHOULD get to be taught to Educators, Teachers, Instructors! We, as teaching persons should remember that one on any teaching lesson, this as well as in the classroom and especially when WE publish online (website, blog, Twitter posts…).
Click the above image, please, to access the “pdf” document.
.
SO… WHAT’S EDUcation4.0? OR at least WHAT SHOULD it be!? I advocate and I (try to) PUSH a transparent <===> #LEARNing and #LEARNingToLEARN through #PracTICE by #LEARNingByDoing <===> as students, learners need to first of ALL to know WHAT and WHY they need to learn that special topic.Transparency is a MUST in 21st Century: tell the learners, students THEIR <===> #LEARNingPath, it is their right to know it <===>, make it visual by designing the course so that they can see it and experiment around with it, they will learn EVEN before the course(s) start, which in my opinion is GOOD, just be prepared about that. As more they know about it before it even starts as better it is, be wise and calculate that to create groups where they exchange the already known with others who don’t know it yet; make THEM ALSO teachers who share THEIR knowledge. Let it GO, let it FLOW, make it a win-win situation.Let THEM take THEIR responsibility about LEARNing whereby YOU as teachers, educators, instructors are the coach WHO guides THEM through the <===> learning process<===.
Mention ALSO, probably the most important WHAT skills they will learn about AND WHAT is THE benefit for THEM!!! YOU will create a <===> success course(s) <===> isn’t that WHAT YOU WANT!?
Check below, please, to find an example of a designed course for <===> Digital CitiZENship <===
.
Click the above image, please, to access the article. Move YOUR mouse cursor over the image then, YOU will see “black spots” that are links to the course.
As YOU will probably have found out, it is about <===> PracTICE and student centered <===>! WHY!? Well, WE are living in the 21st Century and life has changed, the role of EDUcators and Teachers has changed ALSO! NOW it is the students, learner who will come MORE in the focus as the OLD known TEACHING is OUT, it is NOW about <===> TEACHINg about <===> LEARNing To LEARN <===> where the teaching persons act as a Coach who guide THEIR LEARNers to become independent <===> Life-Long LEARNers <===!
.
.
Create a FAQ’s list together with the learners, students WHICH THEY decide about the FAQ’s. Give THEM a double task job; creating the FAQ’s AND let THEM make curation ALSO about it, and WHY NOT, let THEM create a <===> ThingLink <===> ALSO where THEY integrate THEIR LEARNing into it. AND if enough time and/or as creative homework let THEM create ALSO some comics (optional) about the <===> How-To <===> 😉 AND don’t forget please: ask THEM if there is something which THEY have seen what is in there interest and if possible learn about it and share it with THEM, so THEY will learn it and will be happy 😉
WHAT Are THE Skills Needed From Students In The Future!? OR, WHAT Are THE Jobs Look Like In The Future!?
That are actually questions which I get asked very often from people and where I could ask ONLY the first one! WHAT Are THE Skills Needed From Students In The Future!? Well, there is one well renown personWHO explains it BEST in my opinion, and that is Howard GARDNER. Please check the picture below to understand.
.
.
When YOU have a closer look than YOU will realize that the <===> Synthesizing Mind <===> is THE major skill needed! I use it since ages in my courses and with a big success! Actually ALL my blogs and blog posts are based on it.
WHEN YOU post on Social Media (Twitter, Facebook and…), please post so THAT everybody could understand it, YOUR messages, posts, blog posts, are getting ALSO read by an audience WHO is OUTSIDE the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===>! Check below, please as a GOOD reminder 😉
.
Click the above image, please, to access the article.
As YOU could see, I highlighted some, WHY!? Well, remembering WHAT was done WRONG during my study time, I MUST show these as they are STILL the ones WHO DON’T get respected by teaching persons!
As the name says it already, it is about <===> SOCIAL <===>, so stay social, please. When using a “Twitter Chat” YOU are not alone, YOU will receive posts from OTHERS who are sharing stuff which could be of interest to YOU AND YOUR audience. YOU are NOT alone, DON’T forget this, please. YOU are, once connected to the internet, part of a global community. Everybody can take part in YOUR chat from around the globe, so posts (Tweets) will be visible in YOUR chats, that is called: Tweets in the stream.
Visible Thinking: see it as if YOU read a Newspaper, YOU won’t read everything as not ALL of interest to YOU, do the same when reading the Tweets, read what is of interest,BUT DON’T block persons who are sharing, NOR “Mute” persons, that is NOT SOCIAL! Accept to be social and follow the above advice, if YOU can’t then it would be better to create a “Forum” where YOU could stay alone with ONLY the people you want to be together, BUT that is “Middle Ages” mentality 😉
Sounds hard!? If so, please check if YOU have a fixed mindset and/or how-to get a growth mindset, YOU want to adapt to 21st Century, isn’t it?:
Please check the video below, who explains WHAT Social Media is.
.
..
Social Media DO’S
Using “Social Media” Twitter is a great way for connecting educators, teachers and for sharing their practices. Through Tweets (posts are called so) they can connect together and build a <===> Personal [Professional] LEARNing Network <===> a PLN. Through this PLN, educators, teachers and students will amplify their knowledge, they can build themselves a <===> Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management <===>, a PKM.
DO’S In Teaching OR Let Us Say BETTER Learning Through PracTICE
Learning By Doing is the 21st Century mantra…
.
Click the above image, please, to access its origin.
.
[GM] My experience over 12 years (up from 2002), benefits which I encountered for students, learners: I prepared every time a visual for my learners to show THEM WHAT they will learn and how WE would learn this together, any station of the <===> Learning Path <===> got explained, so they knew at any moment WHERE they were in their <===> Learning Process <===. Thus meaning: I designed the course as shown above (with different tools [as facilitators] as possible today…). Already 12 years ago 😉
WHAT did the learners, students benefit and HOW were they feeling?
Students and learners, especially adults and seniors (Andragogy), prefer working actively <===> Learning By Doing, PracTICE <===> as THEY are NOT really friends of THEORY! SO they were feeling much more FREE as they could act on their own, experimenting around, making some mistakes and learning from them. They learned more quickly as a result, once the mistakes transformed into positive thinking by NO fear anymore to try out NEW things, they were using their gained knowledge at home to learn on their own for their own PracTICE. They have a <===> profit <===> for their private life, so they love it to learn that way as it is useful!
WHAT are the skills Educators, Teachers should learn to master and teach the students!?
Well, some say that this is very difficult to find out!? Actually it isn’t at all. Let me explain, please. The MOST IMPORTANT, as mentioned already above is to find WHAT could be of interest to the learners, students, the benefit for them for their private life as well as the skills the workforce needs! And in this case WHAT I propose to YOU will be benefit for both!
Concerning feedback: ALL of my proposed courses (already in 2002-2003) had (A MUST) to be evaluated by its course participants, this through an online formular to evaluate THE quality of my courses! This was a rule which I brought in myself to guarantee a consistent quality in my courses. Here below (let me brag a bit) one (I have the permission of the person to publish it) feedback who is more worth than a diploma for me. The students, learners opinion is the mirror about WHAT WE have taught them! PS: the below mentioned document is framed and displayed in my private (at home) office, so that I can see it each day to remember me to maintain the same quality. If being once in doubt (yes, that happens also sometimes, nobody is perfect…) I have a look back again on it and it gives me the force to continue again…

The above text is in French, if YOU are NOT used to the language of Molière please check this App with whom YOU can translate, actually very useful when visiting other countries then yours 😉
A bit of the whole story about the above reference: When I started to give courses in 2002 about ICT and the use in EDUcation, there was NOTHING where I could have copied something, nor references! I had to start from scratch!!! At that time I spent +/- 30 hours for one (1) hour course giving!!! I was reading books to find out about pedagogy with ICT, here my list <===> 21st Century Learning and Teaching: Multilingual Books Recommendations <===>
SO ALSO, I didn’t know the person mentioned in above reference (too much occupied to give BEST possible course…), it is ONLY after the course when I was reading his evaluation that I asked him; he was a retired “Director ofdifferentiated EDUcation” (just 3 months retired as far as I can remember) with a “Doctorat in EDUcation Sciences“, I was perplex at first moment, YOU can imagine; getting such a brilliant evaluation from someone with such a reputation and education. I am very grateful to him for that, it is STILL my <===> Leitfaden<===> for my daily tasks to keep up my professional way!

The author Dan KIRSCHteaches courses in Information/Communications & Technology (ICT) and Career/Technical Education (CTE) for students in grades 6-8 at Patrick Henry Middle School in South Dakota, USA. Students in his classes focus on Social Media, Educational Technology, and most importantly Digital Citizenship. Currently, I have the priviledge to be on my school districts ICTcurriculum committee. We are rewriting and updating our ICT curriclulum in grades 6-8 for the 2015-2016 school year.
Well, there is a lot of different views! WE will explore WHAT could be THE BEST way to teach and to learn about Digital CitizenShip (hashtag on Twitter is #digcit) AND THEREFORE WE will use an infographic from Nancy WHITE ===> You can follow her on Twitter @NancyW<===. Here WE go, check the infographic below, please. .
.
WHEN WE have a deep look on it WE will see ALSO ===> Digital Security <=== which I will define here as ===> Cyber Security <=== where ===> Internet Safety <=== is included as well in it.
I prefer using only one word for NOT making people dizzy ===> Cyber Security <===, later, after learning about, YOU will automatically know what is belonging to it…
We will use ALSO Social Media twitter to communicate with OTHERS, here below an example on how this could be done:.
=> 9/n Concerning ===> #CyberSecurity <===: WE will install #Protection #Software on #AnyOS#AnyDevice for OUR own protection AND to protect ALSO OUR #Community as WE know THAT any infected device can infect OTHERS!
Check out WHAT the “ISTE” says about Digital Citizenship below, please. The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) is the premier nonprofit organization serving educators and education leaders committed to empowering connected learners in a connected world. ISTE serves more than 100,000 education stakeholders throughout the world.
As WE know NOW know about WHAT ===> Digital Citizen Ship <=== is about, my idea about the How-To students could learn it through THEIR OWN responsibility by creating an ===> Advisory Board <=== on each school where THEY run it.
.
Digital Citizen Ship | Advisory Board Run By Students
What would be BETTER than using practice to learn about a difficult task such as ===> Digital Citizen Ship <===, isn’t it!? Well, how to do this? It’s a question which I was asking myself a lot and after ===> Deep THINKing <=== I got this idea: let the students, learners, create themselvesan ===> Advisory Board <=== on each school where THEY learn the practice, where THEY have their OWN voice and where THEY HELP each other to resolve problems (Cyber Bullying…), to get NEW ideas, to learn together, to take their OWN ===> Responsibility<===, where they learn to communicate, organizing meetings with parents and teachers to discuss…
How could that be done, organized?
Well, WHY NOT getting students, learners from any age of the school being part of such an ===> Advisory Board <===, together with one adult person who is present as a coach, not controlling them but guiding them. THEY should meat at least once a week and also taking care of THEIR school community (learning responsibility) by remembering THEM about the ===> #FSCD <===, THE “Friday Security Check Day“, where people learn to get the right reflexes about looking for “Updates” of installed software, checking the browsers if they are updated, helping to create a ===> Coding Club <===, helping to create a ===> Maker Space <===, and a lot more… Use YOUR creativity to find some more ideas 😉
SO… Let it GO, let it FLOW! Go for ===> DeepTHINKing <=== about the idea and THINK about the word ===> together <=== who brings people on a ===> Win-Win situation <===.

Before Starting With Coding WE MUST know first the IMPORTANCE and the big RESPONSIBILITY about ===> Coding <===! Responsibility while Coding, sounds STRANGE, isn’t it!?
Well, I think the BEST way to explain YOU WHY ===> Proactive THINKing and RESPONSIBILITY is a MUST <=== in Education, is to show YOU some examples on WHAT happens WHEN code goes wrong!
And WHAT about ===> Copyright!? <=== DON’T FORGET to tell YOUR students, learners, about it as well. The above mentioned is A MUST as it will develop ===> Critical THINKing and Proactive THINKing <===!
SO… NOW as WE discussed about WHAT NOT TO DO, let’s GO for trying out how WE can give courses about ===> Coding <=== 😉
