SO… How can I (LEARNer AND EDUcator) as individual NOW learn on my OWN way? HOW can I as a teaching person encourage self-directed learning and How-To coach my learners for it? WE will use the word ===> LEARNer <=== as well for the students as for the EDUcators…

As those who know me, I love to present sometimes a music video, related to the learning process, here we go…

[Start text from Wikipedia] Autodidacticism (also autodidactism) or self-education is the act of self-directed learning about a subject or subjects in which one has had little to no formal education. Many notable contributions have been made by autodidacts.

Autodidactism is often complemented by learning in classrooms and other social settings. Many autodidacts seek instruction and guidance from experts, friends, teachers, parents, siblings, and community. Inquiry into autodidacticism has implications for learning theory, pedagogy, educational research, educational philosophy and educational psychology. [End text from Wikipedia]

The word ===> autodidact <=== is MOSTLY known AND used in Europe by German language speakers,  English speaking and francophone languages. OTHER countries prefer and use the term ===> Self-Directed LEARNers <===.

  • Connect with OTHERS on Social Media Twitter and create a PLN (Personal [Professional] LEARNing Network)
  • The PLN can get grown by participating (as lurker OR as an active participant) on Twitter Chats
  • Observe and analyze YOUR PLN on their behavior and learn from them (DO’S and DON’TS)
  • Adapt to YOUR PLN as long as necessary
  • Once YOU see as it is NOT anymore possible to LEARN something from YOUR PLN in Twitter Chats, visit other ones
  • YOU will get NEW food for the brain for BETTER
  • Search again for the NEW discovered and make curation about it for YOUR PKM
  • The search includes ALSO ===> searching on Twitter for NEW hashtags <=== to follow on Twitter

TEACHers, EDUcators SHOULD get reduced in teaching classes for a certain time AND following Professional Development courses by experienced coaches during that time… These experienced coaches (from inside and/or outside the school) could get named “Key Instructors” or something else. Once THEY know it by PracTICE it’s THEIR role to give “Professional Development” courses to other teachers, educators. The curriculum as well SHOULDN’T be static, it MUST get updated as soon as there is something NEW to adapt to the situation.
