CitiZEN-Science: WHAT is it and is it worth to follow?!!
[Begin Text Wikipedia]:
Citizen science (CS; also known as community science, crowd science, crowd-sourced science, civic science, volunteer monitoring, or online citizen science) is scientific research conducted, in whole or in part, by amateur (or nonprofessional) scientists.[1] Citizen science is sometimes described as “public participation in scientific research,” participatory monitoring, and participatory action research whose outcomes are often advancements in scientific research, as well as an increase in the public’s understanding of science.[2][3] Based on Alexa rankings[4]iNaturalist is currently the most popular citizen science website[5] followed by eBird[6] and then Zooniverse[7] in second and third place respectively.

Find below a GREAT article, who explains very well:
[Begin Text SciStarter]:
As we face global challenges, we may want to find local ways to make a difference in protecting endangered species, safeguarding water sources, preventing disease, or accelerating medical research. Science needs more eyes, ears and perspectives than any scientist possesses. Enter citizen science: a collaboration between scientists and those of us who are just curious or concerned and motivated to make a difference. People just like you are collecting data by taking photos of clouds or streams, documenting changes in nature, using smartphone sensors to help scientists monitor water and air quality, or playing games to help advance health and medical research. A citizen science project can involve one person or millions of people collaborating towards a common goal. Typically, public involvement is in data collection, analysis, or reporting.
There are thousands of opportunities to participate in this movement that’s sweeping the globe! Find them on SciStarter.org .

Well, I don’want to say much more about this, apart that I back it up! I find it extremely interesting and it should get used in schools as it would certainly make students interested into Science.
As far as I know, it is ALSO used in a school in my country Luxembourg:

SO, you are a retired EDUcator, TEACHer, Instructor, LEHRENDER: WHAT to do NOW?!!
Well, that was the question I was asking myself when I became retired in 2014. As I did innovation in Modern-EDUcation in my country Luxembourg, there was NO WAY to give that up, BTW! SO, years before my retirement I was already present on Social-Media Twitter (2009), Facebook, and I did Curation (2011), as I was blogging (2010-2011) ALSO, actually very successful with > 197K (197.132) views (November 2019).
Giving up something which was already well known worldwide, was NO OPTION! Well, please check below HOW YOU can stay informed and trying to help others as well; remember: you are NOT anymore in the “School-Cocoon” and MORE FREE to say WHAT YOU want!! YOU DON’T have to go to “stupid” meetings anymore which are time-killing and mostly useless!!!
A BIG difference, use it, please to make a CHANGE!! Others will listen and maybe follow your advice for a BETTER EDUcation, a Modern-EDUcation! Advice: Please check below to follow and to stay Up-To-Date!
AND, why not starting with tinkering and coding, being part of the Maker-Community and trying it out to be able to share it with your community in the MakerED, Maker-Spaces? You have time NOW, use it, please for the benefit of the LEARNERS! Check below please:
NEW Words, Trends to Know and to LEARN about in 21st Century
Are YOU feeling overwhelmed with strange words, NEW trends, when you are reading and following posts, tweets, articles about/and in Social Media!? Well, I can understand YOU!!! There are SO MUCH, if I wouldn’t do curation, I wouldn’t understand it anymore as well, to be honest! 😉 Through my daily curation I see it and I read those articles, from WHERE I learn a lot as an autodidact. WHEN there are some words which I DON’T understand I am going MOSTLY to Wikipedia to find its explication and if NOT sufficient, I use GOOGLE and other online resources to know MORE about it!
For ME it’s THE BEST way (Curation) to learn and to stay up-to-date with my Professional Development! I tried out a lot of different ways after being online since 1998 and believe me, please, it’s the fastes way to keep it UP! 😉 Through Curation I build up my <===> PKM <===> Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management from where I can use it in ANY of my blogs, twitter posts and other Social Media to share it to people willing to learn.
Let us FIRST have a look about WHAT Curation and PKM is (first stuff to read and bring into PracTICE) before WE continue with THE strange words and trends later:
SO, let’s have a look on some (actually a lot…) NEW words and trends in EDUcation and WHO will influence EDUcation below, as THEY are actually running in Real-World, let us START first with the words:
P.S.: The present words with NOT YET a link will get updated later, otherwise I wouldn’t finish this blog post! 😉
Dynamic Learning
Does your classroom offer one-and-done types of learning activities, or does the learning grow, inspire, and evolve throughout the year and beyond? With digital tools like G Suite for Education that are available 24/7, the learning doesn’t have to stop when the bell rings at the end of class, or when the worksheet is turned in, or even when the school year ends. The learning takes on a life of its own; it becomes dynamic. This concept alone should change the way you think about learning in general and change the way you facilitate learning in the classroom.
Through Curation, Social Media twitter and by building a PLN this is perfectly possible!
BTW : Did YOU actually realize that NOW it’s the PracTICE WHICH is dominating the Real-World before it EVEN is taught by EDUcation, a BIG CHANGE, isn’t it!!! Because of Entrepreneurship (bold actions…) the internet helped to CHANGE the world and flipped EDUcation to bring it MORE close to the needs of the workforce/Industry!!!
The NEW Pedagogy is MORE about the learners, students and to put THEM into the drivers seat; looking to find a Win-Win situation about THE How-To to GET THEM learning together in a team (EVEN outside the School-Cocoon with Social Media…) and to prepare THEM for the workforce/labor/industry by being able for <===> Learning-To-Learn <===> for a Life-Long Learning once out of school!

On previous blog post I discovered “Processing Software” and I was such impressed about hat I was looking to find some other Coding tutorials with Arduino which use it; so I discovered this one using an Ultrasonic Sensor (HC-SR04) and a servo motor. As I had bought already a “Sensor-Kit“, please check my blog post, First Steps with the Arduino-UNO | Maker, MakerED, Coding | Sensor-Kit SKA-36 so I have the necessary parts…
Please check the video tutorial below, to find out about yourselves about what incredible is possible.
.
.
.
You will remark that there is only a provisionallyfixing of the “Ultrasonic Sensor” (HC-SR04); there one can do better! So, I had a look on Amazon to find a “Pan & Tilt Kit“, here it is:
As I didn’t know how to make the assembling, I was looking on YouTube and I found this video tutorial which helped me a lot, please check below.
.
.
The assembling wasn’t that difficult actually, a bit puzzle around with tiny screws and juggling… The “Pan & Tilt Kit” is delivered with two (2) servo motors which will get fixed, but we need only one of them for our project. Once everything assembled we fix the “Ultrasonic Sensor” with hot-glue on the top of the “Pan & Tilt” socket like shown on the images below.
.
.
.
SO, we have made the mechanical part, the most difficult in this project… Let us go now for the wiring, check the wiring schema below, please.
.
.
It doesn’t look that difficult, isn’t it 😉 SO, once finished we will have a look on the code, “Copy & Paste” it and upload it into the Arduino IDE. Please check the tutorial here step by step for the how to ===> https://howtomechatronics.com/projects/arduino-radar-project/
In the above mentioned tutorial we have the codes for the Arduino, as well as for the Processing software. For those who haven’t yet installed the software, here a reminder for download:
Once uploaded both codes you will be astonished about what is possible with coding and maker 😉 Have fun and stay tuned for next projects…

I hear you screaming already: I would like to be innovative, I even have some ideas BUT I am fearing about WHAT OTHERS would say and think about!! To be honest, NEVER look about WHAT OTHERS would say, innovation is something NEW and the new will GET up from the beginning NO acceptance, apart from a few which Professional-Development is Up-To-Date, and you probably (mostly) will GET even very hard criticism because people tend for “Listening to reply and NOT for understanding”!!
With ICT in EDUcation and while being (nearly) Up-To-Date with your Professional-Development while you have read the most important books about Modern-EDUcation from renowned researchers and by being online and using Social Media, especially Twitter, you certainly “feel” what MUST change to give OUR students, learners, BEST EDUcation. DO SO, I am pushing you if necessary, the world needs people with courage, motivation, engagement to bring Modern-EDUcation farther!!
And I am NOT talking about tools, Apps, THEY are ONLY facilitators; THE main so-called tool is YOU!!! YOU are modeling the statues (your learners, students) from a raw piece to a Master-Piece because of YOUR talents, knowledge, experience, Up-To-Date Professional-Development. It’s YOUR talent, like in arts, YOUR creativity who sparkles over to the learners, students with YOUR motivation, engagement, passion…
IF NO effort is brought in, NO results will come out!!
NOW, you know the secret ingredients (it’s like cooking…) and then comes the way of the How-To, there WE need to use ALSO Social Media, especially Twitter to connect with the students, learners!!Did I say connecting with students, learners on Twitter and learning together with the whole world; an OPEN place, NOT a closed classroom!!??? Sounds strange, isn’t it!??? Well, it isn’t strange at all, as it is PracTICE for the students, learners, to GET straight in to WHAT they will get used once in the workforce. It’s actually the BEST PracTICE they can get.
As on January 2018 I just have seen ONE Twitter-Chat (if you know another one, let me know please…) WHERE students, learners (average age 20 years old) were involved and it comes from Canada, the University of Ottawa, run by Pierre LEVY. Please check below some screenshots from the transcript of the Twitter-Chat:
.
Click image please to access the tweets
.
Click image please to access the tweets
.
Click image please to access the tweets
.
By following that Twitter-Chat one can see and analyze THE way HOW students are thinking by bringing in THEIR Critical-Thinking, that shows their learning instantly… AND, the students use as well the <===> Twitter Moments <===> to make THEIR reflection about their learning while collecting different tweets from different persons on the Twitter-Chat <===> #UOTM18 <===> and even creating blog posts about it to reflect their learning. The moments and the blogs are made outside the <===> #SchoolCocoon (school, university…) <===> and Pierre LEVY is using this practice since 3-4 years already.
So, as I see it in we have two binary options – stay unfinished or be completely miserable. Let me explain, if we attempt to do the same things for kids in 2028 as we do today we will be woefully ineffective. Very rarely is someone who is ineffective at their job fulfilled by their job and happy in their professional life.
Okay, 2028 seems pretty far away. I challenge you to consider if it is really possible to make slight changes for eight years and then have a monumental shift in years nine and ten. Probably not. So, what’s the point?
The change in our world is constant. Our kids are different than they were ten years ago and will be vastly different ten years from now. Our communities are changing. Our world is fundamentally different and will continue to evolve. In education we must adjust to them and to our world (more importantly their world) or we are going to face becoming dangerously irrelevant.
So, as educators we have one choice. One option to stay relevant. One option to compete. One option to serve our kids with integrity. And perhaps most importantly, one option to be personally happy. That option is to stay unfinished. Embrace change. Love the grind. Have a deep, hard, introspective conversation with yourself that it is never going to be easier to be great at your job. And be okay with that realization.
And I hope – deep in my soul – that accepting the fact that it is never going to be easier energizes you. You were not put on this Earth to be average. None of us were. You have chosen to be a part of the best profession in the world. We have the opportunity to change lives every single day. It is an awesome responsibility, but an even more incredible opportunity.
As the semester comes to an end, I'd like to share with all of you my experiences in @plevy's Knowledge Management class. It's been a pleasure learning with all of you at #UOKM. https://t.co/AHiv5Jifpp
By reading carefully the students, learners blog posts, tweets (Twitter posts), Twitter lists, Twitter Moments and Curation you will see HOW they can GET interested for their own learning by following ONLY a few rules to become digital citizens who know how to use the tools in a responsibility manner WITH understanding about WHAT they are talking and posting!!
THAT is what I call <===> Modern-EDUcation, Modern-LEARNing PracTICE!! Wishing to see OTHER EDUcators, #TEACHers to copy this 😉

WHAT gifts to buy for the kids for Xmas and Holidays?
Every year the same question, isn’t it!? WHY not thinking about to buy gifts from where and with that the kids will learn? It might be good to have a look on WHAT are the skills required for the future from youth, students, learners and upon that making your choice! Actually (2017) the trends are in the maker scene and coding scene! Engineers, coding people and ICT specialists are needed, the workforce, industry is searching!!
What is the maker scene?
I invite you to read my bog post about it below, please:
In the Makerspaces as well as in Maker-EDUcation the creativity and PracTICE are getting fostered to be prepared for what the workforce and the industry are needing! The kids, students, learners are Learning-By-Doing and that is with fun involved also! They are not only tinkering around but they get coached in a “NO Hierarchy” space; in Luxembourg. SO, they can communicate with each other to solve problems and as well later also doing the same through the Social-Media and forums. They learn also by that way to build teams and are able for team-work later once out of school.
.
Team-Work is one of the essential skills which students, learners need to have for the future! Read also my blog post below, please, which explains WHAT the skills for the future are:
In the above blog posts you will find information what is happening and you can contact the responsible persons for more information; let your kids go there and have fun by LEARNing-By-Doing! 😉
What is the coding scene?
Coding is the 21st Century skill. Coding enhances creativity, teaches young people to cooperate, to work together across physical and geographical boundaries and to communicate in a universal language. Technology is part of our life, and coding brings it closer to you!

WHAT’S the MOST IMPORTANT in Professional Development-Teacher Training in Modern EDUcation!?
Is it the use of #EdTech (Apps and WHATEVER), technology, WHAT MOST of educators, teachers are advocating on Social-Media twitter and OTHER platforms!??? Certainly NOT!!! WE are living in a world WHERE WE need more than EVER to work together and to forget about the selfish!!! In any company WHERE OUR students, learners need to work THEY will need to have <===> Soft-Skills <===> the ability to work in a team, with collaboration skills, being able to adapt with a multicultural environment…
Let us talk about Soft-Skills, WHAT is it!??? Check below, please:
WHY did I post THIS!? Well, when I see WHAT Educators, Teachers post on Social-Media twitter, sorry, I MUST say that the majority didn’t understand WHAT #ModernEDU is actually!!! :(((
Educators, Teachers DON’T EVEN look on WHAT are the skills needed for the students, learners in a Modern-World working with ICT; THEY look ONLY on WHAT THEY think (really!!!???) about WHAT THEY think is important for THEM to survive to maintain the status quo! :((( Let us have a look WHAT OUR students, learners need for skills in a Modern-World, check the infographic below please.
.
.
Actually MOST Educators, Teachers are nearly NOTHING ELSE as <===> Herd Mentality followers<===> and are following the ones who have chosen THE WRONG path, with a lot (as usual) talk, talk, talk without efficient come out on Social-Media; BUT STILL continuing!!! Since MORE than fifty (50) years it is like THAT (EVEN without Social-Media at that time…), so WHY changing!??? Sounds hard!??? About time THEN to go for serious analyzing and deep-thinking YOUR OWN habits and especially online postings on Social-Media!! It’s about time to get realistic and to accept the reality!! Once the degree, diploma in the pocket and having a secured place in schools, teachers and educators feel like GODS and block anything what THEY think might get THEM away from THEIR control over students, learners and OTHERS with a different mentality! Same ALSO for having contact and listen to advice from industry, working force; which is actually a MUST!! Educators, teachers need to go more for collaboration to ensure that their learners, students will get the appropriate skills and knowledge to survive in an ever quick growing world.
.
.
.
.
Educators, teachers are following online ONLY (like in a herd mentality…) THE ones WHO THEY think give THEM BEST advice about WHAT Modern-EDUcation is: BUT those ones are THE ones WHERE THEIR <===> Professional Development <===> is FAR BEHIND!!THEY even haven’t read the latest books about pedagogy of Modern-EDUcation and are following on a stubborn way and leading to a wrong way!!
Enough criticism and feedback, SO WHAT makes professional educators, teachers?
First of all I would recommend some books which ANY educators, teachers SHOULD read to understand WHAT Modern-Education pedagogy and practice is; please check image below.
.
.
The above mentioned books give YOU a detailed insight and advice about WHAT Modern-Education is and ALSO the How-To, use it!!
How-To Adapt To THAT Mass Of Information On The Internet?
WHAT I have seen on Social-Media is THAT Educators, Teachers are struggling with ALL the mass of information THEY get and DON’T know HOW to deal with it!!! I suggest to use “Curation” and to create YOUR OWN “Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management”, called ALSO #PKM, check below for more information, please:
Actually EDUcation is following more and more Sir Ken ROBINSON about his creativity statements (which are MORE than right BTW!), BUT on Social-Media and in the classrooms it doesn’t really show up yet!! I don’t want to talk too much about it, instead I want THAT YOU to read the following:
And WHAT about Critical-Thinking AND Proactive-Thinking!?
.
In an EVER changing (too quick actually…) world around and with ICT, it is a MUST to have knowledge and developed skills about Critical-Thinking AND Proactive-Thinking! BOTH are required to understand about “Fake News” and Cyber-Security!!
Please check the picture below 😉 NO words needed to write MORE!! Make YOUR choice 😉

I propose to work with system when WE use strip-boards; thus meaning: preparing them ALL the same way. Any electronics project will need a power supply, so WE will start with the power supply which will mostly be a 9 Volt battery. WE will use the outside strips to connect them to plus and minus and WE will ALSO provide a diode (1N4007) to protect against polarity reversal. As a newbie in electronics this might be the best way to protect you to destroy the electronic parts if + and – would get reversed 😉 With normal rectifier diodes the power supply voltage will typically drop by 0.8 volts. WE will have then ONLY 8.2 Volts which is enough in most cases.
WE will solder also a PCB-Connector (Printed Circuit Board Connector) where we can feed the strip-board with the power supply.
.
SO, as WE will solder a bit, it will be also a soldering training before we start on more serious projects later 😉
Check below please how the finished project will look, which we will discuss in detail on the How-To. WE use a 100 mm x 75 mm strip-board (CONRAD 529531 – 62 for 2,19€).
.
.
Necessary material
.
.
.
In above image I used a 2 pin screw terminal from CONRAD (1192188 – 62) for 0,28€ and for the wire I choose from a “Wire Kit from Velleman” (60 m from different colors).
full core, 0.2mm²
colours: 5 metres : white / blue / brown / green / yellow / orange / grey / violet + 10 metres : black / red
external diameter: 1.4 mm
max. voltage: 60 V
max. current: 4.3 A
PVC insulation
tinned CU
AWG24
.
.
To make sure to have proper bent edges; I suggest to bend the diode (1N4007) over the left-hand side shown “Wire Bender” (CONRAD 425869 – 62 at 3,29€).
.
.
First start to solder the 2 pin screw terminal in the middle of the strip-board, followed by the diode (1N4007). Now measure the distance and cut the wires. For the red wire (Plus) it will be 4 cm (3 cm distance), the blue wire (Minus) will be 6 cm (5 cm distance). Take the electronics cutter and strip off o,5 cm of the insulation at each end and bend it. Put it into the holes in the strip-board and solder it. P.S.: WE will use the red wire for the Plus (+) and the blue wire for the Minus (-) of the power supply; that are internationally conventions in electronics. Sometimes for the Minus (-) is also used the black color (see 9 Volt battery clip).

When WE want to start with electronics there is a little bit theory to learn as well; in electronics there are special symbols who get used in schematics. Any component (even a battery) has its own symbol. In the following tutorials and projects, WE will learn by easy step-by-step WHAT they are and HOW to make OUR PracTICE (to GET used to it…) with them. I am certainly NOT a friend of learning by heart, BUT symbols need to get learned that way to understand schematics of electronics!
.
Symbols used in this tutorial: battery, resistors, LEDs and diodes…
Here below a small description about the How-To to work with strip-boards in general:
.
.
After viewing the above tutorial YOU will understand. The above tutorial uses the FREE software “Fritzing” which WE will use as well in the next blog posts; you can download it here:
Here the wiring and soldering on the strip-board, as well as the parts list:
.
.

As You have remarked, I added ALSO a resistor and a LED (Light-Emitting Diode); the red (could also bee a green one) LED is lightning when the power supply (9 Volt battery) is connected. SO, YOU might solder the two components (330 Ohm resistor and LED) as well, not mandatory BUT it will give YOU a bit more training on soldering and alerts YOU to NOT solder when it is on!! NEVER work on whatever project with connected (switched on) power supply <===> Safety first!
WHY has the resistor a value of 330 Ohm?
In above example we used a 5 mm red LED with this characteristics: 2.25 Volt and 20 mA current (that’s the maximum values which DON’T have to become higher otherwise the LED will get destroyed) and as power supply we use a 9 Volts battery. WE will use the “Online Calculator” to calculate the value of the resistor. First let us do some mental calculation, there WE DON’T need any calculator. WE have a 9 Volts battery and the LED will have maximum 2.25 Volts, so “9 V – 2.25 V = 6.75 V” which needs to get taken away from the LED to avoid destruction.
.
..
THAT value of 337.5 Ohms doesn’t exist! Resistors are manufactured by following <===> In 1952 the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) decided to define the resistance and tolerance values into a norm, to ease the mass manufacturing of resistors. These are referred to as preferred values or E-series, and they are published in standard IEC 60063:1963. These standard values are also valid for other components like capacitors, inductors and Zener diodes. The preferred values for resistors were established in 1952, but the concept of the geometric series was already introduced by army engineer Renard in the 1870s.
By checking the below link, WE will see that the closest value is 330 Ohm. BTW: The symbol for “Ohm” is “Ω“; SO, we write 330 Ω. Tip: You find it in the “Special Characters” in any editing software.
In the above website is a video integrated which explains very well about the How-To of that norm, give it a try.

MY experience described in ONLY some phrases: Give the LEARNers, students (whatever age) the freedom of LEARNing without squeezing THEM into a FRAME and concentrate on guiding them as a coach by analyzing THEIR behavior and show them the How-To to become self-directed learners, autodidacts. SHOW THEM ALSO up from the beginning WHAT THE <===> LEARNing Path <===> will be with design of it and explain THEM that they could design themselves it with a short introduction on the How-To. THEY will learn the ICT-PracTICE which will help them once out of the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> to be ready for Life-Long LEARNing and to be able to adapt very quickly in the workforce! WHEN YOU show the LEARNers, students <===> WHAT the profit is for THEIR private life <===> YOU will engage them very quickly 😉 AND DON’T teach THEM more as necessary, propose them some links to go further ONLY for those who want!!
Check ALSO (Up from 11 years old, give THEM THE confidence THEY need to grow):
WHAT’S my message and WHY did I create this blog post!?
Well, I will encourage all youth and also adults, seniors, oldies to become <===>Life-Long LEARNers <===> and staying Up-To-Date with their knowledge, especially concerning their skills in ICT, called NOW <===> #eSkills <===>! In the modern world YOU will change YOUR job probably +/- 12 times in YOUR working career, it is very rare to stay life-long in the same job and/or same company!!! SO… The workforce is looking for people with ICT skills which YOU mostly didn’t learn at school, right!?
Bring in YOUR kids to such creative makerplaces WHERE THEY can develop (and perhaps parents as well…) THEIR creativity and GET interested in something WHICH could boost THEIR interest into ICT in their future 😉
YOU won’t have (mostly) the time to learn by visiting courses, right!? START to become Life-Long LEARNers by LEARNing on YOUR OWN pace, by becoming <===> Autodidacts <===> Self-Directed LEARNers. YOU are able to, I did it, so can YOU!? 😉
I found a job because of my ICT eSkills and I am STILL LEARNing on a daily base routine for being Up-To Date with my <===> Professional Development <===>, even being retired NOW! THE pleasure of LEARNing!
I did THE <===> ICT PracTICE <===> and THAT’S WHAT the workforce needs!!!
Due to my eSkills I could share my knowledge AND expertise ALSO with the below mentioned as well as to a broad range of visitors from around the globe!
Practical Tip: LEDs are transparent, so the Cathode (Minus) looks always a bit larger as the Anode (Plus).
.
.
.
When working with electronics WE need to learn a bit theory and mathematics, BUT DON’T worry, it is very easy! First of all which is mandatory, is the “OHM’s Law“. YOU DON’T need to calculate! 😉 There is an online calculatorwho will do the job for YOU! Click the image below please to access the online calculator and play a bit around with it to get used to it, have fun.

Electronics Starter Kit for Makers: What is the minimum equipment?
What is the minimum equipment and what are the costs? That’s certainly the first question you will ask. Let us have a look: in electronics we need to solder the components, a solder iron is required with its accessories. Please check below to find out in detail.

Concerning the soldering iron, you have two choices: buying a normal 30 Watt soldering iron as a kit or a soldering station which is about 170 €. Up to your budget what you will buy.
Concerning the stripboard: this is ideal for prototyping of new projects.
Resistors have a color-code; you may buy as well for 1,99 € a help to learn to find the value of the resistors as long as you don’t know by heart the how to to know.
As we know now what is the equipment required we need also to find out from where we can get it. Well, we can find out if there is a local electronics store and/or buying it online.
Find below, please, addresses of online electronics stores:
Conrad International (from where I order my stuff…) delivers to 210 countries worldwide
Soldering is no magic, there are only some rules to follow to get a perfect soldering which are not difficult at all. You can find a great guide below, please read it.
I would advice you to start with electronic kits as they are delivered with a guide who provides easy to follow steps. Please find below some good addresses from where you can buy them:
Protect YOUR health: Hazardous solder fumes are harmful to your health!! SO, make sure to NOT put your nose over the soldering and to breath, please! NOR to have drinks on the working place and to drink during the soldering where the soldering takes place!! Be VERY carefully ALSO about on How-To handle the soldering iron; it heats up to 150°C-450°C (30 Watt / 80 Watt)!! NEVER touch the soldering iron underneath the insulating part (on the metal) as it may be ignited and you may have severe burns!!!
.
.
With WHATEVER tools YOU work, keep THIS in mind, please <===> Safety first!!!
I am trying to give You the THINKing behind a project (Which EVER one…) LEARNing-By-Doing, should GET done with Students, LEARNers THAT way; let THEM try out till THEY find the appropriate solution. Let THEM create a blog post about it where THEY can report about THEIR adventures and HOW THEY solved the problem for BEST… Of course with photos and with the written experience; #CriticalTHINKing and #ProactiveTHINKing will emerge As well as #PracTICE of course…
As a Coach You observe and guide THEM with “Couldn’t THERE be ANOTHER way to realize it?”; Make THEM curios about to challenge THEMSELVES for BETTER
Have FUN!

IF A, B, C aren’t understood then Z will be a disaster!!!
.
First of all I won’t have a look about the How-To students do, BUT about the TEACHers, EDUcators (LEHRENDE) do on Social Media Twitter and Facebook which I am analyzing since 2009 already. THAT’S the persons in EDUcation which have THE responsibility to prepare OUR students, learners for the workingforce/labour/industry!!
Well, it’s good for THEM that there isn’t any (NOT YET) system which grades them about WHAT THEY are posting, honestly! While using so-called 21st Century tools (NO, NO, Apps aren’t included here; THEY are ONLY facilitators…) THEY are STILL on linear thinking with an outdated “OLD-Mentality”..
The NEW Pedagogy isn’t in mind; must be “Fixed-Mindset” to NOT apply it, excuse-me please!! ONLY using ICT and tools without using Up-To-Date Pedagogy is the WRONG way! 😉
There are already so many research and posts on Social Media about the NEW Pedagogy, so many books since ages from renown experts about EDUcation and the majority of EDUcators, TEACHers present on Social Media haven’t read them!!!
.
I am NOT bashing EDUcators, TEACHers, BUT giving STRONG feedback and criticism if necessary; and that is why fore I created this blog post!!! I can’t see this anymore, this naivety grown in the<===> #SchoolCocoon <===> and amplified through the Social Media posts from average (Mediocrity), NOT professional persons which use Social Media in the solely purpose of becoming so-called “EDU-STARS”, looking to shine with dusty titles and ONLY nice talking with NOT UP-TO-DATE Professional Development!!!
People WHO lost ETHICS and the value of the profession of <===> EDUcators, TEACHers <===> are a BIG shame for the system of EDUcation and are guiding the readers, parents, politicians, students on the WRONG path!!! YES, this is happening… 😦 Mostly those selfish persons are using the Twitter Chats to GET a maximum of followers and later to create a book with the knowledge of their PLN on twitter; they earn the money from the knowledge of OTHERS!!! Funny, isn’t it…
And those who give them feedback in the chats GET blocked, as it doesn’t fit to their “Fixed-Mindset“, that’s really EDUcation, isn’t it!!! 😦 NO, NO, I don’t say in which Twitter Chats such poor EDUcation behavior gets used, the chats itself are NOT BAD, BUT some of their moderators have special behaviors…
OLD (outdated…) EDUcation Mentality mixed together with ICT and Modern-EDUcation DOESN’T fit together!!! With an NOT Up-To-Date Professional Development they GO against ANY modern psychology and modern Pedagogy!!! THEY block OTHERS on Twitter, making a MORE BAD reputation as EDUcators, TEACHers have already!! NO wonder THAT MOST people have a BAD memory about school!!! One should think that such behavior doesn’t exist anymore, but even after 40 years I have left school it STILL is! Some (a lot actually…) Educators, Teachers act as if they were untouchable (feeling like GODS), treating adult people like pupils and DON’T use <===> Andragogy (adult learning) <===>, they forget about WHAT Social Media is; THE word “Social” is in it!
[START text from Edutopia] Teachers choose to humiliate students for several reasons: to gain control over them, because the teacher is desperate; to frighten other students; or because they’re over-compensating for their own lack of confidence. Some teachers actually think they have a right to humiliate a student because the student deserves it. Check THE WHY <===> Humiliation Is Never OK !!!
A quote to remember <===> I much prefer the sharpest criticism of a single intelligent man to the thoughtless approval of the masses. [Johannes KEPLER].
Learn from the above mentioned links, curation and DON’T make the same mistakes, please! Modern-EDUcation is “Open Mind” and accepts “Critical Thinking“, even if it is a hard one. A “Fixed Mindset” is on the WRONG place; WE are living in the 21st century and WE use a “Growth Mindset“!
WE DON’T need OLD mentality combined with 21st Century tools!! And as YOU know me, mostly a music video 😉
Books ANY EDUcators, teachers MUST read to understand WHAT Modern Education is:
.
.
What is the new pedagogy anyway!?
OK, giving anybody a chance in case if THEY missed it… It’s never too late to learn about modern Education and to adjust for BETTER. The “Professional Development” as done actually in MOST countries is running FAR behind!! EDucators, Teachers are getting fed by small pieces (linear…), mostly about tools; THAT is the WRONG way!!
WHAT about understanding the WHOLE before starting to follow trends and getting fed with cherry-picking stuff!!
I MUST say it AGAIN, excuse-me please; read the above mentioned books to know THE path YOU are going!! YOU are NOT going THIS path ALONE as YOU teach YOUR students with and through the acquired knowledge <===> take YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, please 😉
WHEN have read “5 Minds for the Future“, YOU will see THE text of below image. Keep it in mind for ANY learning and posting on Social Media, THAT’S Modern-Education!!
.
.
.
Have FUN!
Look at following keywords to find out about what you should think about and what this sort of creation will result in.

Reading without understanding and saying “I have learned” is an illusion!! GO for <===> Deep-Thinking and Deep-Learning! <===> Just find out how much YOU STILL know from YOUR “school learning“, lol 😉
Click the image above, please, to access the article.
.
That’s a question which I get asked very often; BUT it isn’t actually NOT that difficult to do! ALL depends ONLY on the <===> Open Mind and knowledge about NEW Pedagogy<===> as well as THE acceptance to work together in a classroom!! WE ALL know that time is an IMPORTANT factor in Teaching AND Learning; so let us start up from there: it is a factor which WE can adjust (MOST think [really!?] that one can’t change it; time itself one can’t change, BUT the way WE employ time WE can! 😉
WHY do I mention the word “Time“!? EVER thought about on How-To people learn!? Some are learning very quickly and others need MORE time as OTHERS to understand! BUT THEY ALL have to follow THE same scheme and rhythm in EDUcation, sounds strange isn’t it 😉
SO, as knowing this, WOULDN’T it be BETTER to organize lessons THAT WAY: e.g. let us take history; one lesson of history about whatever subject followed by an language course (English for example…) WHICH is treating exactly the same knowledge by teaching vocabulary, history parts (snippets) about what was taught in previous lesson and later the learners, students would get asked to create a blog post about it and to make ALSO some curation about the treated topic!?.
time, team-teaching, team-learning, students as teachers, put students in the driver seat, critical-thinking a MUST, Open Mind discussions in the School Cocoon AND on Social Media, …
