Actually (January 2020 and even before…) there are a lot of warnings from Cyber-Security experts and EVEN from the FBI concerning Smart-homes and its connected devices:
SO NOW, after having bought a Smart-TV and other so-called smart devices which are connecting to the internet, WHAT to do? First of all: do YOU really need it, as nearly any devices are getting sold with IoT capabilities? IF NOT, WHAT to do?
Before connecting the power:
Check your Router settings and block any unknown devices!
IF you are able to access your IT device, change straight the manufacturer password; give it a STRONG password!
Concerning passwords: I recommend to use a Password-Manager such as:
With a Password-Manager you just need to remember a Master-Password and ALL other Passwords will get generated with a STRONG Password from the software itself!!

Strange, I make an introduction about Hygiene in an Cyber-Security Blog, ISN’T it?!! Well, there is a reason behind:
WHEN WE use a computer, Smartphone and/or any OTHER technical device (such as cars as well…) WE need to take care of them! AND our body? The same: WE need to have the daily reflexes to make for sure that WE don’t expose it to invasions of bacteria, virus, etc. Examples given: brushing teeth, showers, washing the hands after a toilet go, washing the hands before and after a meal, etc. Wearing a Condom when having sex, a necessary protection! Well OUR condom for the technical devices is the Anti-Virus, a MUST for Any-devices!!! Any-Devices, Apple as well?!!! YES!!! Please check the WHY in my Curation below please:
WE are used to these reflexes, aren’t WE?! At least WE should be!! SO, for computers, Laptops, Smartphones, tablets (iPads etc.), IoT devices (Smart-Home), WE should do the same, they costs a LOT of money and expensive stuff should get taken care of!! THE OTHER reason as well is, THAT WE are using the internet with THEM and so WE are meeting OTHER people with OUR technical device (which ever one it is…).
SO, that exactly the same as WHEN WE are meeting (as persons) OTHER people in Real-World: WHEN WE have a flu, WE will infect OTHER persons with it and an epidemic will occur!! WHEN OUR technical devices (which ever one it is…), connected to the internet, are NOT Up-To-date with the latest Updates they are vulnerable to threats (see it as a virus, e.g.) and once infected, WE will infect ALL the OTHERS as well (epidemic…)!!
As WE use these #AnyDevices with #AnyOS on a daily base, WE SHOULD be aware and develop a sense of Responsibility to protect each other!
Well, the above written is ONLY an introduction, please read my Blog posts in different languages (EN, FR, DE):

As on October 26th 2016 I had an interview with Marc TEUSCH in the „Makerspace maach3” in LTEttelbruck. This is the third interview from EDUcation in Luxembourg of a series which I intend to do; the first one was about <===> Luxembourg EDUcation-Interviews | 1) The Luxembourg EDU-System, followed by Luxembourg EDUcation-Interviews | 5) Creativity and Maker-Spaces | BEECREATIVE. For me personally it was ALSO a pleasure to visit the place as it was my old school, lots of memories and lots of positive changes in the last 40 years since I left the place… I hereby thank a lot Mr. Marc TEUSCH for having accepted my request for having an interview with him. My first request was made over Social Media Twitter (on DM; Private Message) as WE are following each other.
First WE were talking about on the HOW the “Makerspaces” were created in Luxembourg and from WHERE they come (the ideas…); as Marc told me that it isn’t a NEW idea, it actually started in the “Hackerspaces“, where Marc was ALSO involved in SYN2CAT/LEVEL2 Hackerspace Luxembourg, where I made an interview recently, Digital Luxembourg Interviews-Hackerspaces-SYN2CAT-LEVEL2, as one of its creators and founders. Marc had the idea to create a “Makerspace” in 2012 on its working place at “LTEttelbruck“, first experiments were created… And it was on March 6th 2013 that Marc was speaking about “Makerspaces” on a TEDxLuxembourg event, check video below please:
.
.
Let us have a look on THE How-To “Makerspaces” in Luxembourg are working, its Philosophy and Concept, by checking the “Mindmap” below:
[Gust MEES] Remark the “Flat Hierarchy“, I love it! THIS is exactly WHAT is necessary for “Creativity” <===> Let it GO, let it flow… <===> and with THIS concept I am sure by 100% that it will be a success!!! I wish I would be 45 years younger to participate in it 😉
THIS “Concept” as used in Luxembourg is unique in Europe!! It’s ONLY in its beginning phase, BUT [Marc TEUSCH] told me WHAT is foreseen on a “Long-Term view”:
Getting Makerspaces in ALL schools in Luxembourg
Possibility to bring in Makerspaces into the curriculum, ideas and preparation on its way…
Makerspaces could (and should be…) a trampoline between the schools (THEORY) and the workingforce/Industry (PracTICE) to close the gap…
[Gust MEES] I completely agree with THAT!! I remember when I had my first job in the industry and I faced THE DIFFERENCE between the learned AND <===> SchoolCocoon Mentality <===> and WHAT really happens in the PracTICE!! OMG, I suffered :(((
It was in December 2013 that Marc TEUSCH was contacted by “SCRIPT” from “Luxembourg EDUcation” where he presented his ideas and vision about “Makerspaces” in Luxembourg, which was heartily welcomed as the country was looking for a NEW strategy in EDUcation to prepare it to the freshly launched campaign about “Digital Luxembourg” AND “Digital4EDUcation“.
As a reminder about WHAT the strategy is, check PIC below, please:
.
.
Makerspaces are a GREAT way to close the gap between schools (THEORY) and the workingforce/Industry as the learners can GET the “PracTICE-Feeling” through tinkering around in the “Makerspaces” and the “Coaches” will see ALSO WHO has capabilities to GET guided to a “PracTICE-LEARNing“… This is called “Orientation Professionnelle” in the “Luxembourg EDUSystem“…
Actually there are already +/- 20 Makerspaces ready to launch by Februray 2017 and more in preparation…
.
Projects run by LTEttelbruck
[Gust MEES] Well, THEY do a lot actually, please have a look, impressive:
[Gust MEES] MY experience described in ONLY some phrases: Give the LEARNers, students (whatever age) the freedom of LEARNing without squeezing THEM into a FRAME and concentrate on guiding them as a coach by analyzing THEIR behavior and show them the How-To to become self-directed learners, autodidacts. SHOW THEM ALSO up from the beginning WHAT THE <===> LEARNing Path <===> will be with design of it and explain THEM that they could design themselves it with a short introduction on the How-To. THEY will learn the ICT-PracTICE which will help them once out of the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> to be ready for Life-Long LEARNing and to be able to adapt very quickly in the workforce! WHEN YOU show the LEARNers, students <===> WHAT the profit is for THEIR private life <===> YOU will engage them very quickly 😉 AND DON’T teach THEM more as necessary, propose them some links to go further ONLY for those who want!!
Check ALSO (Up from 11 years old, give THEM THE confidence THEY need to grow):
WHAT’S my message and WHY did I create this blog post!?
Well, I will encourage all youth and also adults, seniors, oldies to become <===>Life-Long LEARNers <===> and staying Up-To-Date with their knowledge, especially concerning their skills in ICT, called NOW <===> #eSkills <===>! In the modern world YOU will change YOUR job probably +/- 12 times in YOUR working career, it is very rare to stay life-long in the same job and/or same company!!! SO… The workforce is looking for people with ICT skills which YOU mostly didn’t learn at school, right!?
Bring in YOUR kids to such creative makerplaces WHERE THEY can develop (and perhaps parents as well…) THEIR creativity and GET interested in something WHICH could boost THEIR interest into ICT in their future 😉
YOU won’t have (mostly) the time to learn by visiting courses, right!? START to become Life-Long LEARNers by LEARNing on YOUR OWN pace, by becoming <===> Autodidacts <===> Self-Directed LEARNers. YOU are able to, I did it, so can YOU!? 😉
I found a job because of my ICT eSkills and I am STILL LEARNing on a daily base routine for being Up-To Date with my <===> Professional Development <===>, even being retired NOW! THE pleasure of LEARNing!
I did THE <===> ICT PracTICE <===> and THAT’S WHAT the workforce needs!!!
Due to my eSkills I could share my knowledge AND expertise ALSO with the below mentioned as well as to a broad range of visitors from around the globe!
AND check my profile below as well, at the bottom of this blog post please! 😉

My Memories and Nostalgia
.
The <===> Makerspace Movement <===> ISN’T something NEW actually as it happend already +/- 45-50 years ago with an other name! At that time it was called <===> Do It Yourself (#DIY) <===> and was seen as pure HOBBY and NOT endorsed by EDUcation! SO, it took minimum 45 years before EDUcation realized its importance!
WHY do I say this? Well, I was one of those pioneers at that time in my youth; I used already electronics (transistors, integrated circuits, LED displays and also analog displays…) in my learning in PracTICE projects as it wasn’t foreseen yet… I won ALSO an electronics contest in 1979 from Germanic countries, which later helped me to find a BETTER job!
For evidence, here some pictures below:

Backup A MUST With ALL The Malware AND Especially Ransomware Around!
NOT sure if YOU followed OR if YOU are conscientious about WHAT is going around actually on the internet concerning “Malware” and “CyberSecurity“, BUT YOU SHOULD!!! THIS is a <===> Wake-UP Call <===> take it serious please! That is called ALSO <===> #ProactiveTHINKing <===> I will NOT post another article on the How-To to make a backup as there are already so much around, BUT I will show YOU WHY it is necessary for everyone to make a backup and delivering YOU the BEST articles and tutorials to do so…
Cross-platform malwareis around and infects any OS (Operating System)!!! [START Text from Kaspersky] PC, Mac, Smartphone and Tablet users are under ever-evolving threat from computer viruses and malware. Taking action means understanding what you’re up against. Here’s a look at the major types of malware and their potential impact. [END Text from Kaspersky]
For those WHO are using a “Antivirus Security Suite”: MOST of them have ALSO an “Online-Backup” in the cloud as integrated service… example below… Personally I prefer an external hard disk 😉
For private persons I suggest to make weekly backup, companies SHOULD do a daily backup! A good day to make weekly backups is certainly on the weekend for private persons; Over Twitter I give a reminder through the hashtag <===> #FSCD <===> which means <===> Friday Security Check Day <===> where YOU will find useful tips for BEST protection, backup included! Follow that hashtag, please…
With the low prices of external hard disks this will not be expensive and for sure less expensive as when YOUR computer is infected!!
Keywords necessary for me to create this blog post: Costs of an external Harddisk, ONLINE backup by Antivirus Suites, weekly backup of full HD for private persons, CASES tutorials and advice, BeeSecure cloud, Acronis FREE book for Dummies, Microsoft FREE Backup possibilities, Mac possibilities of Backup, <===> #FSCD <===> Reminder, Ransomware, Malware, video tutorials, links, how much time for a backup?, organization, weekly tasks, CyberHygiene, SHOULD be integrated in eSkills,

First of ALL, WE need to THINK about OUR LEARNers, Students and WHAT skills THEY need to have in the 21st Century, NOT knowing WHICH are THE NEW jobs WHO could emerge, right!? Check below please.
.
.
Known this NOW, WE have to THINK about the How-To WE as EDUcators, Teachers could provide THEM (LEARNers, Students) those skills, right!? FIRST lesson for TEACHers by using ICT is THAT TECHnology (Apps, programs…) isn’t THE MOST IMPORTANT! It’s <===> Pedagogy FIRST <===>, EDUcators, TEACHers MUST have an up-to-date <===> Professional Development <===> on it to know exactly WHEN to use the so called <===> EdTech Tools (Apps, programs…) <===> to make THEM wealth for effective TEACHing and LEARNing!
Well, please check my blog posts below please to understand BETTER:

LEARNing Path For Professional 21st Century LEARNing By ICT PracTICE Concept
.
.
Over the years I developed and designed a possibility on the How-To use ICT for LEARNing and TEACHingwhich will prepare the LEARNers, students to fulfill the needs of the working market. It is mostly build up by coaching and NOT TEACHing as a <===> Win-Win situation is in mind and ALSO Collaboration <===> which are key factors in a modern society.
.
.
.
Let us first have a look on the How-To design a course which gives the learners, students some engagement as THEY could reproduce it themselves after YOU showed them the How-To and will bring in some creativity as well 😉
WE will NOT use ANYMORE THAT system as shown on left-hand side shown image, isn’t it 😉 WE will give OUR learners, students autonomy and coaching them to become <===> Life-Long LEARNers <===> by <===> LEARNing To LEARN <===> through collaboration, by using blogging, curation, Social Media and by putting them into the drivers seat. THEY will learn to take responsibility to survive in a bi-directional world (Real World and Virtual World are interacting…) and WE will coaching THEM as well to be responsible <===> Digital CitiZEN <===> by LEARNing about the basics of <===> Cyber Security <===> as well and ALSO about <===> eSkills <===> as it is THEIR world with ALL the problems present which THEY have to fight for and in it!.

CyberHygiene For Beginners, Easy To follow Steps For Anyone | Reflexes To Get Used To
.
Internet safety is the responsibility of EVERYONE! It isn’t actually THAT difficult to apply a healthy behavior on the internet to stay secure, one needs to have some reflexes, daily reflexes… Let us call them <===> CyberHygiene <===> as they are about care anyway.
WHAT do WE have to take care about!? Check below please:
.
Updates about our “Operating System” (OS)
Updates about so-called “Third Party Programs”
Back-up from our files and/or the whole Hard Disk
Installation of protection-software, anti-malware, anti-spyware tools included…
Protection of our privacy
Encryption
Secure Passwords
…

TEACHing Was YESTERDAY! Today Is Coaching The LEARNers, Students For LEARNing To LEARN!
.
With the internet WE have NOW two different worlds which interact to each other, the “Virtual World” and the “Real World”! There are NO walls anymore in the <===> #SchoolCocoon <===> as students, learnershave access to OUTSIDE the schools through an internet connection. ALSO does the working force use the internet for commercial purpose, so the learners, students MUST know about how to use this in a responsible manner as wanting to GET a job… There will be a strict selection from work force on HOW NEW employees are aware of THAT!
As long as YOU are STILL THINKing (???) in a fixed frame as taught by OLDEDUcation, HOW will YOU LEARN the NEW!? How will YOU follow THAT quick CHANGE!? YOU CAN’T with linear learning!!! YOU would need 10 years to follow up, BUT THEN there will be ALREADY NEW things to learn again, and so on… Instead use the <===> Synthesizing Mind <===>, see PIC below, please.

Check the above image and GO for #DeepTHINKING! Is THAT making YOU feel funny!???
THE OLD way of teaching is OUT!!!
Today is about coaching the students, learners toward for <===> LEARNing To LEARN <===> to become <===> Life-Long LEARNers as the world is turning much more quicker as WE can follow! SO… EDUcation can’t follow for sure and OUR students, learners need to know to learn to become independent and learn on THEIR OWN; they need to become autodidacts, self-directed learners!!!
