YOU created your blog, WHAT to take care about now!?

programmerman-animated.

SO, you created a blog; hopefully you did read my advice on my previous blog posts. Let us have a look back on those blog posts and finding out WHAT WE can do BETTER to have success in the internet blogging community:

.

In above list of mentioned blog posts you will find already a lot of Tips & Tricks, which are working perfectly as I use them myself. WHAT else to do?

Well, as I am watching a lot of blogs from EDUcators, TEACHers, I analyze that THEY are NOT back-linking as I do (see links above WHO are back-linking) to other published blog posts…); well that is a MUST as YOU have an audience of readers (EDUcators, TEACHers, Students, parents…) WHO want to know how it is run the BEST possible way!

From EDUcators, TEACHers, Professors, Instructors one expects that THEY know THE right way to do it!! THEY have a certified diploma for TEACHing, isn’t it!? 😉 THUS meaning: NOT ONLY publishing <===> Half-Baked stuff <===> BUT first getting informed (search skills on Search-Engines [Google, etc.]) and by curation to find BEST results and LEARNing (especially understanding it!!) from it before publishing!! DON’T forget <===> YOU have an audience of readers (EDUcators, TEACHers, Students, parents…) WHO want to know how it is run the BEST possible way!

VERY rarely (I am lurking on Twitter Chats as also participating…) I see THAT EDUcators, TEACHers and students DON’T know (too lazy???) the HELP and SUPPORT of blog service, such as mentioned below from WordPress e.g.:

Well, too lazy or let’s say too comfortable; why NOT asking OTHERS to do the job 😉

Keep in mind the “Synthesizing Mind“!

Embedding media (Audio, Images, Videos) is important as it nurtures creativity!

Unfortunately THIS isn’t used by lots of people yet and should get changed.

Learn more about creativity:

Let us come back to the TOPIC. Once created a blog YOU need to GET it known as YOU want that your content gets read by people; SO WHAT to do to get an audience!? BEST PracTICE is to be on Social-Media, especially on Twitter as well as to make curation; both work perfectly together! You DON’T know WHAT curation is, nor Twitter!??? OK, let us have a look on it by following my blog posts and ALSO my curation about curation:

I will show YOU some practical examples as I am used to do, both Twitter and Curation below with screenshots…

Click the above image please to access the article(s).

You will see that even in my curation there are links related to my OTHER blog posts (back-linking) which are sending the readers to other blog posts for learning more! This back-linking permits also a BETTER “SEO” (Search Engine Optimization) for the “Search-Engines” (Google and others…); thus meaning: YOUR blog will get BETTER found when searching the internet!

Curation: The 21st Century Way To Learn On Its Own Pace And To Organize THE Learning?

Already since 2011 I use Curation for my learning and through it I built my “Professional Knowledge Management“, called also PKM. But WHAT is Curation?

5-Steps-for-Content-CurationFirst I was wondering about this new trend and was not sure what to do with it, but after some research on Internet about it I found out that curation to me is the best way to collect articles which I select through quality criteria, which I can archive under different topics and which I find easily back through the “Tags”, as the “Tags” play the role of a table of content. For a Life-Long-Learner like me curation is like a treasure of knowledge and information that is getting shared through the online community.

Through curation one has the possibility to FREE online learning and through sharing it on Social Media to create a community with the same interests. This community is called a “PLN” (Personal [Professional] Learning Network).

Curation could also save people of same interests a lot of time and provides them with valuable content which could get used to link back to them in written articles, blogs, web sites and social media sites. Also one learns from each other in the curation community as one has the possibility to follow interesting curation.

As an ICT course instructor most of my curation is related to educational content and so I provide the curate content to an educational audience and to people who are willing to learn. Therefore I see curation also as help for a collective global learning and a contribution to a collective intelligence.

Read the full article here:

BUT, WHY and HOW do I use Curation for my PKM (Personal [Professional] Knowledge Management)?

Content Curation gives me the freedom to OWN my learning, through well chosen sources on the internet, and by giving them the right “Tags” it allows me to find the sources easily back later. BUT first of all I read the articles before I curate them, so I learn through the reading and as more often I do this as BETTER my brain gets trained to understand very quickly!

.

Learn more:

Curation itself is nothing new, since 1998 I used the same system already with Word documents (in my documents I used keywords at that time…) to create my own learning; curation platforms although have a nice user interface, integrated Social Media sharing options and a possibility for “Tags” creation, as also included statistics!

To me, Curation together with Social Media (especially twitter) and blogging is THE BEST way to learn and ALSO for teaching online!

Through THESE daily routines I learn very quick!!

Ever wanted to use Twitter but didn’t find its utility? You tried Twitter but you didn’t have that success with it? Probably that’s what happend to you as it happend to me as well six (6) months ago, till I was learning about Twitter through my Personal Learning Network (Hashtag = #PLN) on Twitter. Yes, I learned through Twitter, strange isn’t it? How can 140 characters be get used for learning, sounds strange isn’t it?

As on 13-07-2015 I posted 94.5K (94,500) Tweets (Twitter posts) with a Google Page Rank of 5/10!

In the best case scenario, Twitter is a great vehicle for connecting, sharing resources, and personal and professional learning. The key is separating the good from the bad. Read the following blogs on my curation to learn more: http://www.scoop.it/t/21st-century-learning-and-teaching?q=Twitter.

.

.

.

One of the most important on Twitter, the Hashtag #

twitter-hashtagsKnowing now that one can learn through Twitter on How-To use Twitter, let me tell you some other tips which you need absolutely to have success: Twitter uses “Hashtags“. Hashtags allow other like-minded people to follow those topics.

For Education there is a lot of different “Hashtags“, see following lists http://www.scoop.it/t/21st-century-learning-and-teaching?q=hashtags and description.

Text from EDUDEMIC: The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keyword or topic in a Tweet. Any Twitter user can categorize or follow topics with hashtags. Those hashtags (usually) mean something and are a great way to get a tweet to appear in search results or discussion monitoring.

Example: we created a blog about education and we want to share this blog efficiently over Twitter, so we could do this as following:

.

Share a link with your followers on Twitter

.

So, I prepared a practical example above (see screenshot) where I use different hashtags and you will remark also that I left 21 caracters free in the “Tweet” (that’s the name of a Twitter message). One should leave 20 characters minimum left for that an other Twitter user (Tweep or Tweeps they are called) may have the possibility to resend (Retweet) that message (Tweet) to their followers, that’s called making a “Retweet“, (RT).

.

===> ‘Hashtag’ Declared 2012’s Word of the Year <===

.

To get well used with Twitter check the “Twitter Glossary” and “The code of conduct“:

Look at following keywords to find out about what you should think.
.
Keywords: code of conduct, hashtags, creativity, motivation, self-learning,  autodidact, critical thinking, engaging, competences, multimedia skills, social media skills, learning to learn, culture, organization skills, multicultural, SEO, Search Engine Optimization, share your experiences,
.

While using Twitter, we live in another world where the above mentioned rules should get followed to have success with our Tweets!

.

.

Respecting this new world by following its rules

..

It’s important to thank your followers when they Retweet your Tweets; this shows good manners and respect! Be social!!! They will appreciate it and you need your followers to build up your own little network for sharing Tweets. You can even build up a “Personal Learning Network” (Hashtag = #PLN). Check here to learn more about a PLN” http://www.scoop.it/t/21st-century-learning-and-teaching?q=PLN.

How did I build up my Personal Learning Network?

.

community-jpegThe Majority of Twitter users are following everybody who is following themselves, that’s what I did also on the beginning… Later I wanted to be connected ONLY with people who have the same interests, for me that was “Education” and “IT-Security“, “Internet-Safety“, “Online-Safety” and in general “Knowledge Sharing” and “Learning“… So I “unfollowed” some of my followers who did not match to that criteria which gave me also a better “ratio“! The “ratio” is the difference between followed and followers… Check here to learn more: follower-to-following ratio.

.

That’s only my individual way, whereby some won’t agree with me, but it was the best way for me… Perhaps also to you, maybe not for you!?

.

Any other secrets?

.

userfredericmoser01YES, try to not publish ONLY about your knowledge but be also “social“, you are on a “Social Network“! Do not be blinkered specialist! Thus meaning, interact with some “Tweeps” and publish something different, be a bit private (but not too much…); talk about the weather, events, propose your new blogs to your followers with same interests and ask them also for feedback, critics… Ask friendly for a review… You will get “Retweeted” and you will get a feedback which helps you to make your published articles (blogs) “better“… Stay out of the crowd! You need to be open to “critics“, they are not negative, but should be seen in a positive way to present your knowledge better to your audience, as better they are as more visitors you will get and success is there 😉

.

As you have build already (or are on the way to do so…) your own “Personal Learning Network” (PLN), make it interesting for your followers and tell them about your new projects, such as e.g.:

How-To use Twitter as SEO booster?

.

vdujwtjyx3uq-a8sc55-programmerman2Your blogs and/or Web Sites can get a boost on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) while using Twitter, you will need to have the right feeling and knowledge for that…

.

How did I do it? I am using also “curation” where I (of course…) publish also my blogs related to me chosen Topics on my curation account http://www.scoop.it/webwizard.

.

I use also the FREE service of http://paper.li/, an online Newspaper, learn more from their own text presentation here:

Paper.li is a content curation service. It enables people to publish newspapers based on topics they like and treat their readers to fresh news, daily.

We believe that people (and not machines) are the ones qualified to curate the content that matters most. We also think that these same people can greatly help their own communities to find their way through this “massive content world” we live in. We’re here to help!

Every day, around the world, millions of articles are featured on Paper.lis, benefiting millions of readers. We are just at the beginning of an exciting new adventure and we think we’re on to something good.

We love the semantic web, we respect our content creators, we strive for simplicity, and we thrive on feedback.

.

Gust MEES:

===> See Paper.li as: A personalized newspaper built from articles, blog posts, videos and photos selected by Paper.li community. <===

.

So, in practice this is meaning that I “curate” tweets from other followers with the same interests on my publications and they “curate” also my tweets, my blogs and other published information will get published and shared by them, my audience will grow

The Best way to learn about is to watch Twitter-Chat

.

Chat iconAs I was already talking a bit about Twitter-Chat in the top of this blog, so let’s deepen this knowledge here as it is for me the BEST way to find out How-To Twitter is “working” for learning and to teach, to build up a “Personal Learning Network” (PLN).

A “Chat” on Twitter, are you kidding??? That’s probably your first reaction, isn’t it? I don’t blame for that, it sounds strange, true. It was sounding strange to me also on the beginning, but I changed very quickly my point of view of it and I learned to appreciate the “Twitter Chat’s“, as they are a very quick learning and teaching tool

.

.

.

I will not talk too much about it to convince you about it, no one could anyway, you must see the practice to understand it

.

Here below some Twitter-Chats which I can recommend to find out, the practice:

.

.

So, that’s ALL secrets I will tell you, LOL. The Best way to find out anyway is to follow some Top Tweeps and to analyze how they are doing to be successful
